A human monster. That's what they used to call Lash in her Black Hole. Born in a time of change, and caught in two great wars, she changed sides in the middle of the second along with her higher-ranked Commanding Officer Hawke and reluctantly joined with Orange Star to save her own hide. In the end, Hawke sacrificed himself, and Lash found herself alone, under the care of Orange Star.
Or so she thought. The following year included reprogramming by Hachi and Nell, being somewhat pardon for her past crimes by the Orange Star goverment, and then released under close watch to Smash Academy where she could truly learn to be human and not just a war-crazed Commanding Officer. Too bad Hawke ended up not being dead. Too bad for a lot of things, actually.
But here, she discovered many new things, and the old constantly clashes with the new. What side will she end up picking? Only time will tell.

Build: Petite, but don't underestimate her power. What she doesn't make up in bulk, she makes up in speed and in surprising strength.
Pretty almond-shaped purple eyes that are highlighted with thin eyelashes but thicker, dark black eyebrows. She is pale. Very pale thanks to staying inside for most of her life, and will get horrible sunburns if she does not put on sunscreen. Her smile is near perfect and rather condescending if you're caught on the wrong side of her mean streak. Man, sometimes you want to wipe that smirk off her face.
Her most distinguishing feature is her hair. It comes out in clumped spikes from her head. Inherited from her father, it is very think and long, giving her an afro. While a tiny bit curly, it is not overly so. When washed, it falls a little past her shoulders before drying and setting itself back to normal again (it's actually pretty interesting to watch.)

Clothing: She will either wear her old Black Hole outfit on most days (which has since gotten a bit shabby, so she found clothing that closets matches it. Apart from that, she has the typical school outfit. She takes good care of it, and has modified it (like everything else) to have pockets, a single colored skirt and a tie instead of a ribbon. The Smash Academy pin has also been modified to turn into a small laser knife when she presses on it. She sometimes wear a trench coat over it.
She puts on black and purple makeup. Dark black highlights and sometimes dark lipstick. Most of it is goth-like in style, she prefers darker colors with a touch of very eye-blinding bright.She might wear the goth dark outfits, but she's not the same personality, that's for sure.
Apart from that, she has a very beautiful piece of clothing that she wears to serve in the birdcage. Lash is comfortable in her femininity, and doesn't mind wearing short skirts, but will avoid full length dresses as much as possible.
Her winter outfit includes a pair of white earmuffs, A blue and red coat made of yarn, a black synthetic sweater, a brown belt with some decorations and a thicker blue skirt. Lash also has red-trimmed socks and thick shoes for walking in the snow.

Personality:
Batshit insane, in a cute, odd way, Lash has little concern for moral or virtues. She's the goddamn queen of the universe and decides to do what she wants when she wants, and no one can stop her when her mind is set on something. This is easily explained; she was raised without being punished for harming others, only learning to be tolerable towards allies when she fought with Orange Star.
Her personality was forged out greatly in Smash Academy, learning to make friends, and even falling in love and trying to figure out just who really liked. Unfortunately, when she decided to dip in, circumstances involving robot cupids made a lot of her personal advancements come crashing down to a standstill. The Lash of Old now clashes with the Lash of Smash Academy. While the first week was a spiral of self-destruction and being outright cruel with those close around her, she has calmed down enough to keep those demons mostly hidden away, or at least kept behind a well-placed unhackable post (mostly. Damn you Samus). It isn't hard to notice that something seems a bit off, and that the lesson has left her angry at the world around her. Lash is a bit careless in her anger - she always had problems with this before as well, underestimating others, and not being the most disciplined person when it came to having a poker face.
She currently prefers to keep to herself and attempts to lock her heart so she can be more efficient as a soldier, but will talk to others out of necessity, or because of special occasions or events. If you happen to be lucky, you might even catch that somewhat gentler Lash, but be warned - she's not only watching you, she's studying you. Just like she warned Jeff, there might be a war brewing. It's a strange sight to see, her ruthless personality is married with an almost child-like innocence.
Her over-confidence sometimes causes her to underestimate others; after all, she's the wunderkind genius, her chess pieces are already set and there's no way she could lose. She might tantalize with a few facts about what she's planning before fighting - and that information might lead to her own downfall. She takes a loss like a game. There's a next time, and if she finds that a battle isn't in her favor, she might desert early, leaving her own allies to fend for themselves. Granted the situation is much more different now, but she still remains a sour loser and will pout and whine before leaving. See how her foes like that.
She has changed a lot since her first stay at the Academy a year ago, and concepts like proper table manners and being polite and friendship grew and flourished there. Amazing that someone like her became so social, which is probably why the transformation back to her old self was so drastic. Lash is less-than modest, enjoying reminding others how HER inventions are the best things ever. Oh, and if you ask her to build something, don't be surprised if she decides to add a few 'options', such as death rays or self-exploding sequences (all objects need them! Stop being a party pooper and let her do it!)
Her childish antics and somewhat crazy dual nature have caused others to underestimate her, but don't be fooled, Lash is no pushover. Don't expect blind loyalty either - there is only one person Lash would follow right now, and his name is Hawke. Being raised since birth for war, there is a deep resonating respect for her leaders, even if she might act otherwise. Sure she'll still pout and call you a meanie head, but she'll do it. Not just because she wants to do it, but part of her thinks she NEEDS to do it. You can trust Lash to never attempt to take over. She's actually done a lot for rebuilding Black Hole behind the scenes, including recruiting members and preparing the army. Which is a good thing, because before reminding herself of the mission, she felt even her Commander had grown soft...
Her life seems so muddled right now, Lash has been feeling more depressed that usual, being more silent in class. There needs to be action for her to be happy. Sitting twiddling her thumbs is incredibly boring, she has to work on something or see the effects of them. What luck, then, that a certain teacher departed and there was a vacant position that needed to be quickly filled to allow the students to finish the rest of the school year...
As a teacher, Lash is cruel. Harsh. She expects the best, and if you thought Black Shadow teaching Demolitions was a terrible thing, you haven't see the wunderkind in action. She might even use this as an opportunity to judge others and have a little fun with them at their expense.
Woe to those near her when Lash utters “I'm soooo bored!” Run. And never look back.

When she can't sketch down ideas or she has to listen or watch something, she will twiddle her thumbs or tap her left foot very quietly. Lash' brain is always working constantly, so you might think she's off daydreaming, when she's actually planning a new invention.
No matter what happens, she never sits with her back bent, used to the soldier discipline of standing straight. She bites her lip when she is nervous.
If a professor is boring she just makes them less boring. Explosions never hurt --- well they have, but she'll make sure they don't here.

Oh god she can be incredibly evil when she wants to be. The playground level is good for measuring her coldness, but at the same time her entire childish about the situation. It ties well with a quote in the 3rd game about everything being disposable. She doesn't consider her own soldiers lives important, why should she care about the people who are tied to her enemies?) We're more alike than you think. Lash talks about the joys of war to Sonja. It's a pretty serious and dark script, which makes sense since both are presented as being the good and dark side of each other.

Dual Strike:
- Uncaring towards her own units and soldiers. (Lash: "No! No! No! We can always build more units! As many as we need! Everything's disposable. Everything! What's the point of having all this stuff if we don't get to break it!?")
- The fact she is childish is sometimes her own undoing, both in terms of her temper and loosing badly (Sasha: "How utterly childish. Under different circumstances, she could have been a brilliant commander. What a shame.")
- She's crazy / Has a lot of zeal about destroying things (Lash: "Tee hee hee! I can do death--no problem! Dibs on the Black Arc! Oooh!This is going to be so much fun!" Koal: "That girl worries me...")
- Childish glee at upsetting her enemies, just childish in general ("Lash: "Tee hee hee! You're surprised! You're surprised! But wait! There's more! I'm even going to throw in a free bomb shower!")Also when Drake's clone shows up and everyone has quotes about 'his power is strong, this battle shall be hard, her only comment is (Lash: "Tee hee hee! Drake's clone is a big fatty, too!")
- Either she sometimes cares, OR she does something just so she can do it to prove how brilliant she is. (Lash: "I've designed the Black Arc's bombs so they don't damage our own units.I just love being deliciously evil AND brilliant! Tee hee hee!") That line contradicts a bit the "everything is disposable" one, but I can see her doing this if she's asked by her superiors and because she wanted to prove how goddamn awesome she is.
- She can get distracted easily (During one of the conversations with Hawke. Lash is playing a video game, not really caring about the real-life events until Hawke tells her to pay attention. I don't really think that Black Hole would encourage video games, so I'm guessing she found the DS system during the war and started playing it. Lash catches on pretty quickly.)
- She can be careless and not care about little details that prove to be her undoing (this goes back to her childish actions) (Hawke: "See? You are careless. What did you drop? Nothing vital, I hope." Lash: "Hmmm... I don't remember. Probably just bolts or lint or an egg or something... I dunno. Who cares? I don't want to look for it. Let's just go.)
- She can be pretty naive about certain things. (Lash: "What's the big deal? We can always just fix it later. Right?")
- She likes machinery a lot more than organic stuff, there seems to be a code of ethics involved or she just hates Kindle so much she'd disagree with anything she makes. Probably a little of both. (Lash: (talking about the Ozium) "And that thing is SO not a weapon. Compared to my inventions, it's just hideous. It's not even fun to poke!") Also note her talk about volcanoes and nature in general; (Lash: "I haaaaaaate volcanoes! They think they're so hot! Nature only exists so we can conquer it with science!" | Hawke: "I hope you understand just how strange you are. Come on, let's go.")
- Don't let her appearance fool you. ("It's Lash! And don't forget, kittens may be cuddly, but they've still got claws!" --this is probably made a bit more sense of a joke to her original name of Cat as well)
- Seems to only respect her old COs (Her entire barter with Kindle is a good example. She calls her hag, and don't tell me what evil I should be brewing when she was pretty much listening to Hawke and Sturm in the 2nd game, even calling Sturm 'Lord'.)
- Despite being rescued and at a gigantic disadvantage, she still seemed to have hesitance to help them. As a strategist, she should be seeing the advantage in doing so, but still protests at first (Lash: "Huh?! Have you completely snapped?!" / Lash: "I can't believe you're serious about this!")
Oh god she takes her revenge seriously. Not Rachel "KOAL INSULTED MY AGE I AM GOING TO KILL HIM" seriously, but pretty close. (Lash: "I'm gonna make that Kindle scream for mercy!" Hawke: "Calm yourself, Lash. We are in control here. The advantage is ours." ~ Lash: "KABLOOM! Kindle is gonna go 'splat!")
* Random note - Interesting to see that Black Hole had Satellites and Anti-Satelite defense system and Orange Star was all "DUUUR THAT ARE DES THINGS :V" It really proves that Lash thinks ahead (when she's not distracted) because she not only made the satellite, but also built the anti-satellite defense system in case Orange Star ever found the plans.
Hoarding, Bad Table Manners, Food in general (The entire sequence with Rachel is pretty much why I ended up doing the whole CalorieMate idea, as she seems to imply that BH don't get much in terms of food. I figure Black Hole would go for some pretty cheap / easy to store food source. In my mind, Lash also got incredibly sick from all the food she ate that night. Also the fact she screams for Hawke's help when Jess is all "You will learn table manners young lady >B[" Fighting in a war - okay. Facing Jess and table manners: HELL ON EARTH.)
She has very little modesty, again with the HELLO I AM GODDAMN AWESOME. (Lash: "Yea, I'm not too shabby in woods. Any kind of rough terrain, really. Oh,well. I guess it's time to be a good girl and join the battle. Sigh...The ability to invent AND the ability to lead... Being a genius isn't easy." | Lash: "Watch those minicannons! They're nasty! Did I mention I invented those?Tee hee!" | Lash: "Look at them! Crowing over MY inventions! I'm disgusted! That's it. No more little miss nice perkygoth! It's smashin' time!!!")
She needs to brush up on her people skills (Sonja: "I wonder which clone will show up next?" | Lash: "Maybe it'll be a copy of you, right down to the plain face! Tee hee hee!" | Sonja: "Hey, that was mean! I don't think we could ever be friends.") I think Lash WAS trying to humor Sonja, but that's the only way she knew how back then. She's not too stupid about the entire moral balance either, but admits that disregarding them has its advantages. (Lash: "Hey, it's not like I made the thing! Sheesh! Gimme a break! Besides, Black Hole doesn't give a fig if technology is good or evil. That's why the bad guys always advance science... Because they're fearless!" | Lash: "Do you see that, Sonja? You're looking at the pinnacle of Black Hole technology. It's amazing what science can achieve if you ignore morality and all that noise... Tee hee hee! An unfettered scientific mind could turn men into gods!")

She cares about Hawke, in her own way. I tend to favor admiration mixed with tiny girl crush for a girl who doesn't understand men. (Hawke: "Lash. I'm sorry. I have mistreated you. Had I not strong-armed you into this... you would not have been called a traitor. I made excuses. Used you to my own end, so that I could continue to live."
Lash: "Aw, that's OK. Don't worry about it. I wouldn't be doing all this if I didn't like it, ya'know? I'm not an easy chick to push around... I only do what I want to do. And I'm here now because I want to fight with you... So let's fight!")
You can see a bit of niceness emerge at the end of the game: (Rachel: "And finally... Our former Black Hole COs, Lash and...Hawke. Hawke is...not with us...but I will not forget the sacrifice that both of you made." Lash: "Aw, you can forget it! I don't care! ...Well, I guess I do care a little bit...")

Education: Taught most of her young life by Seth. Otherwise, self-taught, reading books and having a brilliant mind. Diploma wise...she has none. That never stopped her, however.
Relatives:
Father: Brow was Lash's biological father. A forty year old man at Lash's birth, he had been paired with a a woman before Lash's mother, but it was found it she had troubles baring children after their fourth failed attempt (all miscarriages). A lieutenant of passable grade, he was somewhat ruthless in the battlefield, not caring who he killed, be they man, women or children. As long as they were from the waring countries...
It is assumed that she not only inherit her dark black hair from him, but the right DNA sequence for her to have CO Powers. His father did not inhibit the powers himself, nor did he ever meet with his daughter considering he died in the first war, but he did hear of her progress at the hands of Seth and was proud as...well as a man of his caliber could be proud.
Mother: Whip was Lash's biological mother. Petite, around thirty years old and having long blond hair, she looked...pretty much nothing like Lash except for her height. But she was incredibly smart and most of the girl's quick thinking no doubt came from her. For a Black Hole operative, Whip was a lot more emotional than most other members, which might also explain how Lash was. Lash remembers very little of her, considering they last saw each other when she was five, but Whip looked to be a very proud lady who would smile only when Lash was around or behind closed doors.
Like most Black Hole operatives, she never saw her mother or her father together either. Her mother would speak of him being a lieutenant worthy of Black Hole and leave it at that.
Whip was killed in the middle of the second war, the reason is still unknown. Lash was never informed.
Mentor: Seth was Lash's teacher from her mother's removal at the age of five until the time of his untimely death from an Orange Star sniper when Lash was fourteen (it was later found out she had also been a target). Seth was pretty much the PERFECT Black Hole operative. Nearly devoid of emotions, cold, hard, calculating. He is part of the reason why she was so easily attached to Hawke, in an odd way.
Did I mention how cruel he was? The type of guy that would show Lash how to study the spine by murdering a scientist nearby who wasn't doing his job right. He borded on the near insanity, but because of his projects, Black Hole was able to clone humans near the end of his life. Lash learned a lot from him, and got some of her mannerism as well. He taught her to enjoy evil, and to use emotions against others. While she always had problems with the second, when you see cruelty in her eyes...no doubt was part of it.
Both Lash and Seth enjoyed chess games, and would sometimes play them with the lives of their soldiers. Yeaaah.
History:
Born to a female Black Hole Research Scientist and a Black Hole Lieutenant in the first years of Black's Hole control of all of it's birth children, Lash's life was already predestined to be one of servitude to the great Black Hole War Leaders. The surviving, but wrongly picked twin had her 'defects' hidden away by the doctor who gave birth to her and realized his mistake. She was sent to live with her mother and for the first five years of her life, mostly followed her around and helped her with her daily tasks, intermixed with watching Black Hole propaganda.
At a young age, she built her first war tank and it was the start of a brilliant career in the ranks of Black Hole, for better or worse. She was moved to the nuclear science division of the army, at the age of five, in the hopes to create the youngest scientific genius ever. Lash never saw her mother again. Life in a continent that was in a constant state of war, preparing to declare war or causing events so other continents fought each other made it so that you didn't really get attached to your family. Lash lived the rest of her so-called childhood in the laboratories of the Black Hole Army, following a terrible man named Seth who taught her very evil things and making her build various gadgets and dangerous weapons that were most certainly used to kill a lot of people. She, on the other hand, enjoyed it very much, and by having such a teacher, she was treating fellow scientist and war efforts like a beautiful game of chess. The childlike attitude never left her, for better or worse, even if Seth did his best to try to stamp out as much of the “negative” personality quirks Black Hole deemed useless, such as friendships and love.
Such routines meant she learned very little about how to live her daily life, caring little for things like eating right and proper manners. She ate with her hands and mostly lived on CalorieMates or grey food glop that was brought to her. All that was important to her was building and inventing, biology lessons with Seth and personal soldier training. Some were annoyed and frightened by the power she wielded, especially at her age, but her mind was a precious commodity.
A few years later, after the disappointing defeat of Clone Andy by Orange Star and the death of Seth during the same war, Lash preformed double duty, working both in the science and weapon departments. This lead to them preforming a few more tests where it was discovered she had the touch(tm). Okay, she had Commanding Officer Powers. This lead to a promotion by the current leader of Black Hole Sturm himself, which she accepted with much glee since she'd now get to see her weapons do damage FIRST HAND. Lash was thirteen.
She was a rather ruthless Commanding Officer, not caring if her army was killed in the crossfire. Much like in the science labs, she treated her units and soldiers like useless toys, calling them 'expendable' (tee hee), and the poor soldiers had to follow along or else. Many considered it a curse to be placed under her, as she barely listened to anyone's advice. The only people who could really calm her down or put her in her place were Sturm and the two of the three other Commanding Officers, Hawke, Sturm's second-in-command who Lash respected a great deal, Adder the CO who she found weird but enjoyed talking with and poor Flak, a soldier Hawke had appointed himself. Lash treated the large brute as her guinea pig for her experiments, much to his woe.
For a while that really went well, and Lash began to take over Yellow Comet, just as planned. But then the other nations started allying themselves to each other (those cheaters!) and she found herself fighting Sonja, daughter of Yellow Comet's emperor. Caught in war games, Lash couldn't help but respect her fellow strategist, enjoying their mind games with each other. Eventually she was forced to retreat back home, where the allied nations defeated them completely. The situation turned grim as Sturm turned desperate and threatened to kill everyone, friend and foes alike. Hawke stepped up and used the opportunity to kill him, saving everyone and ending the war. Lash chose to follow him, as he promised to rebuild Black Hole.
She found the idea fun.
The four of them worked on rebuilding all they had lost, which was a daunting task. Black Hole barely had any resources. Then the Bolt Guard showed up, saying they worked for the new leader named Von Bolt. Adder and Flak mysteriously disappeared, with Hawke and Lash reduced to the bottom of the CO food chain. Someone like Lash was rather transparent, and she openly hated the head of the Bolt Guard, Kindle. But her brain was a precious commodity and she continued to make weapons for them, considering Black Hole to be Black Hole one way or another. She'd been raised all her life in it, there was not much more she could do. Hawke, however, felt that the war effort was too drastic, even for their power-hungry nation.
He grew a little too curious about who their new mysterious leader was and found out the truth (they were using the Black Hole army to destroy the entire world so he could achieve immortality, SAY IT ISN'T SO), chased out by Von Bolt and slime-like creatures called Oozium 238, which could kill them easily. Lash was grabbed as an afterthought to save his skin and use as a meatshield if needed and they would have been terminated if not for the Allied Forces saving them under one of the new leaders named Jake. Lash took a mild interest at the strange boy after their first meeting. Okay, okay, she found him hilarious, with the way he spoke.
The desperate now Ex-Black Hole COs struck a deal, and both Hawke and Lash joined them begrudgingly, helping to end Von Bolt's tyranny. The cards set down for the final battle, it was ended when Jake was faced with either killing Von Bolt or letting him live. The CO chose to shoot his life support system instead, dooming the man to live the rest of his life sweeping the streets. He would not let himself be defeated in this matter, and Von-Bolt and activated a self-destruct sequence that would kill them all. Hawke volunteered to stay behind himself, and the others left the building as it collapsed. The Allied Nations celebrated their victory. A small personality shift took place, as Lash was forced to admit...hey she kinda liked those people. A little.
There was just one huge problem.
Peace returned to the land, and Lash knew that despite being a huge asset in the final days of the war, there would be those who would cry out for her head. Hawke was presumed dead and she had no more connections to anyone. Black Hole was in shambles and she wasn't powerful enough to revive it herself. Here she was, alone and without any science lab in a country that didn't like her. Stuck inside a mansion, she felt caged even worse than if she had been put in a prison. Heck, it was a prison, in her eyes, just a fancier one.ref
She turned bitter for a long while, refused to talk to anyone. But her brain was a precious commodity. Eventually Nell and Hachi got her to start talking and interacting, and even making her smile more. After six months of hard work, she was slowly changing for the better. She still refused to eat things apart form CalorieMates, but there was a change. Still, even Hachi knew that it wasn't safe for her to be out in Orange Star. Thankfully an opportunity showed itself in the form of a school named Smash Academy. Along with other Orange Star members, she was told she would get to attend, with them footing the bill.
The prospect of being away from Orange Star and having freedom never looked so promising to her. She left with the group and quickly settled in well with the crazy school, developing friendships and finding herself accepted by the people there. It was like starting a new life. She made friends, a concept which had been mostly alien to her before, and even developed a sort of family relationship with Robotnik, Flurrie and Kirby, and then Ho-Oh, Lugia and Xatu, forming the Band of the Hawke, in memory of her dead commander. The girl who would be a Pokémon trainer.
Then the Aparoids came. First, Hawke turned out not to be dead, then the pair managed to recruit a blonde haired janitor named Raiden into their fold. Flak and (for a while) Adder came back and it looked like things might take a turn for the worst...but they lacked the funds to start an army again. So they stayed in the school, not doing that much. Lash was happy with this (mostly), her new life having taken over. She was different, right? Friends came and left, and the Band of the Hawke was mostly disbanded, until a certain yellow bird appeared and she was more than willing to start it over again.
Then one fateful February day of this year, all of Hachi and Nell's teachings were thrown out of the window, and she slowly started to become more like the old Lash, trying to make sure that the Orange Star CO didn't discovering this. Of course this complicated matters when she slapped Jake in the face, but so far the other CO hasn't mentioned it to anyone...now determined to get Black Hole running again once and for all, she quit the job she worked with Kumatora, and set on keeping herself mostly by herself to work on her inventions...yet she still had some hesitations.
Feeling a bit lost at her mixed identity crisis and which one she should follow, what should come along than a teacher leaving, and the Headmaster calling her up for a meeting...for her to replace him for the rest of the year. At his approval. Ooooh boy. Should she provide to be acceptable, she might even be able to teach it next year.
And thus Lash was given access to some of Smash Academy's most dangerous weapons.

The following year included reprogramming by Hachi and Nell, being somewhat pardon for her past crimes by the Orange Star goverment, and then released under close watch to Smash Academy where she could truly learn to be human and not just a war-crazed Commanding Officer. Too bad Hawke ended up not being dead. Too bad for a lot of things, actually.

Build: Petite, but don't underestimate her power. What she doesn't make up in bulk, she makes up in speed and in surprising strength.
Pretty almond-shaped purple eyes that are highlighted with thin eyelashes but thicker, dark black eyebrows. She is pale. Very pale thanks to staying inside for most of her life, and will get horrible sunburns if she does not put on sunscreen. Her smile is near perfect and rather condescending if you're caught on the wrong side of her mean streak. Man, sometimes you want to wipe that smirk off her face.
Her most distinguishing feature is her hair. It comes out in clumped spikes from her head. Inherited from her father, it is very think and long, giving her an afro. While a tiny bit curly, it is not overly so. When washed, it falls a little past her shoulders before drying and setting itself back to normal again (it's actually pretty interesting to watch.)

Clothing: She will either wear her old Black Hole outfit on most days (which has since gotten a bit shabby, so she found clothing that closets matches it. Apart from that, she has the typical school outfit. She takes good care of it, and has modified it (like everything else) to have pockets, a single colored skirt and a tie instead of a ribbon. The Smash Academy pin has also been modified to turn into a small laser knife when she presses on it. She sometimes wear a trench coat over it.
She puts on black and purple makeup. Dark black highlights and sometimes dark lipstick. Most of it is goth-like in style, she prefers darker colors with a touch of very eye-blinding bright.She might wear the goth dark outfits, but she's not the same personality, that's for sure.
Apart from that, she has a very beautiful piece of clothing that she wears to serve in the birdcage. Lash is comfortable in her femininity, and doesn't mind wearing short skirts, but will avoid full length dresses as much as possible.
Her winter outfit includes a pair of white earmuffs, A blue and red coat made of yarn, a black synthetic sweater, a brown belt with some decorations and a thicker blue skirt. Lash also has red-trimmed socks and thick shoes for walking in the snow.

Personality:
Batshit insane, in a cute, odd way, Lash has little concern for moral or virtues. She's the goddamn queen of the universe and decides to do what she wants when she wants, and no one can stop her when her mind is set on something. This is easily explained; she was raised without being punished for harming others, only learning to be tolerable towards allies when she fought with Orange Star.
Her personality was forged out greatly in Smash Academy, learning to make friends, and even falling in love and trying to figure out just who really liked. Unfortunately, when she decided to dip in, circumstances involving robot cupids made a lot of her personal advancements come crashing down to a standstill. The Lash of Old now clashes with the Lash of Smash Academy. While the first week was a spiral of self-destruction and being outright cruel with those close around her, she has calmed down enough to keep those demons mostly hidden away, or at least kept behind a well-placed unhackable post (mostly. Damn you Samus). It isn't hard to notice that something seems a bit off, and that the lesson has left her angry at the world around her. Lash is a bit careless in her anger - she always had problems with this before as well, underestimating others, and not being the most disciplined person when it came to having a poker face.
She currently prefers to keep to herself and attempts to lock her heart so she can be more efficient as a soldier, but will talk to others out of necessity, or because of special occasions or events. If you happen to be lucky, you might even catch that somewhat gentler Lash, but be warned - she's not only watching you, she's studying you. Just like she warned Jeff, there might be a war brewing. It's a strange sight to see, her ruthless personality is married with an almost child-like innocence.
Her over-confidence sometimes causes her to underestimate others; after all, she's the wunderkind genius, her chess pieces are already set and there's no way she could lose. She might tantalize with a few facts about what she's planning before fighting - and that information might lead to her own downfall. She takes a loss like a game. There's a next time, and if she finds that a battle isn't in her favor, she might desert early, leaving her own allies to fend for themselves. Granted the situation is much more different now, but she still remains a sour loser and will pout and whine before leaving. See how her foes like that.
She has changed a lot since her first stay at the Academy a year ago, and concepts like proper table manners and being polite and friendship grew and flourished there. Amazing that someone like her became so social, which is probably why the transformation back to her old self was so drastic. Lash is less-than modest, enjoying reminding others how HER inventions are the best things ever. Oh, and if you ask her to build something, don't be surprised if she decides to add a few 'options', such as death rays or self-exploding sequences (all objects need them! Stop being a party pooper and let her do it!)
Her childish antics and somewhat crazy dual nature have caused others to underestimate her, but don't be fooled, Lash is no pushover. Don't expect blind loyalty either - there is only one person Lash would follow right now, and his name is Hawke. Being raised since birth for war, there is a deep resonating respect for her leaders, even if she might act otherwise. Sure she'll still pout and call you a meanie head, but she'll do it. Not just because she wants to do it, but part of her thinks she NEEDS to do it. You can trust Lash to never attempt to take over. She's actually done a lot for rebuilding Black Hole behind the scenes, including recruiting members and preparing the army. Which is a good thing, because before reminding herself of the mission, she felt even her Commander had grown soft...
Her life seems so muddled right now, Lash has been feeling more depressed that usual, being more silent in class. There needs to be action for her to be happy. Sitting twiddling her thumbs is incredibly boring, she has to work on something or see the effects of them. What luck, then, that a certain teacher departed and there was a vacant position that needed to be quickly filled to allow the students to finish the rest of the school year...
As a teacher, Lash is cruel. Harsh. She expects the best, and if you thought Black Shadow teaching Demolitions was a terrible thing, you haven't see the wunderkind in action. She might even use this as an opportunity to judge others and have a little fun with them at their expense.
Woe to those near her when Lash utters “I'm soooo bored!” Run. And never look back.

No matter what happens, she never sits with her back bent, used to the soldier discipline of standing straight. She bites her lip when she is nervous.
If a professor is boring she just makes them less boring. Explosions never hurt --- well they have, but she'll make sure they don't here.

Lash' handwriting is incredibly neat to the point of it being freaky. It's....almost too perfect? When she's angry, you'll know. It's like she grasped the pen and almost tears up paper writing on it.
She types incredibly fast with a computer, and listens when the teacher is EXCITING and fun. Mostly exciting.
Lash is good at essays and bullshitting stuff up - part of her old job including preparing propaganda so she knows how to write things to inspire others (kinda) and she had to write field reports so she's good with words. This might be actually one of her school likes.
Lash either passes her classes with flying colors...or barely edges towards what is needed for a passing grade.

Oh god she can be incredibly evil when she wants to be. The playground level is good for measuring her coldness, but at the same time her entire childish about the situation. It ties well with a quote in the 3rd game about everything being disposable. She doesn't consider her own soldiers lives important, why should she care about the people who are tied to her enemies?) We're more alike than you think. Lash talks about the joys of war to Sonja. It's a pretty serious and dark script, which makes sense since both are presented as being the good and dark side of each other.

Again, this is all some game for her. Hawke just killed her superior and she doesn't bat an eye. (Lash: Me, too! This looks like it could be fun!)

- The fact she is childish is sometimes her own undoing, both in terms of her temper and loosing badly (Sasha: "How utterly childish. Under different circumstances, she could have been a brilliant commander. What a shame.")
- She's crazy / Has a lot of zeal about destroying things (Lash: "Tee hee hee! I can do death--no problem! Dibs on the Black Arc! Oooh!This is going to be so much fun!" Koal: "That girl worries me...")
- Childish glee at upsetting her enemies, just childish in general ("Lash: "Tee hee hee! You're surprised! You're surprised! But wait! There's more! I'm even going to throw in a free bomb shower!")Also when Drake's clone shows up and everyone has quotes about 'his power is strong, this battle shall be hard, her only comment is (Lash: "Tee hee hee! Drake's clone is a big fatty, too!")
- Either she sometimes cares, OR she does something just so she can do it to prove how brilliant she is. (Lash: "I've designed the Black Arc's bombs so they don't damage our own units.I just love being deliciously evil AND brilliant! Tee hee hee!") That line contradicts a bit the "everything is disposable" one, but I can see her doing this if she's asked by her superiors and because she wanted to prove how goddamn awesome she is.
- She can get distracted easily (During one of the conversations with Hawke. Lash is playing a video game, not really caring about the real-life events until Hawke tells her to pay attention. I don't really think that Black Hole would encourage video games, so I'm guessing she found the DS system during the war and started playing it. Lash catches on pretty quickly.)
- She can be careless and not care about little details that prove to be her undoing (this goes back to her childish actions) (Hawke: "See? You are careless. What did you drop? Nothing vital, I hope." Lash: "Hmmm... I don't remember. Probably just bolts or lint or an egg or something... I dunno. Who cares? I don't want to look for it. Let's just go.)
- She can be pretty naive about certain things. (Lash: "What's the big deal? We can always just fix it later. Right?")
- She likes machinery a lot more than organic stuff, there seems to be a code of ethics involved or she just hates Kindle so much she'd disagree with anything she makes. Probably a little of both. (Lash: (talking about the Ozium) "And that thing is SO not a weapon. Compared to my inventions, it's just hideous. It's not even fun to poke!") Also note her talk about volcanoes and nature in general; (Lash: "I haaaaaaate volcanoes! They think they're so hot! Nature only exists so we can conquer it with science!" | Hawke: "I hope you understand just how strange you are. Come on, let's go.")
- Don't let her appearance fool you. ("It's Lash! And don't forget, kittens may be cuddly, but they've still got claws!" --this is probably made a bit more sense of a joke to her original name of Cat as well)
- Seems to only respect her old COs (Her entire barter with Kindle is a good example. She calls her hag, and don't tell me what evil I should be brewing when she was pretty much listening to Hawke and Sturm in the 2nd game, even calling Sturm 'Lord'.)
- Despite being rescued and at a gigantic disadvantage, she still seemed to have hesitance to help them. As a strategist, she should be seeing the advantage in doing so, but still protests at first (Lash: "Huh?! Have you completely snapped?!" / Lash: "I can't believe you're serious about this!")
Oh god she takes her revenge seriously. Not Rachel "KOAL INSULTED MY AGE I AM GOING TO KILL HIM" seriously, but pretty close. (Lash: "I'm gonna make that Kindle scream for mercy!" Hawke: "Calm yourself, Lash. We are in control here. The advantage is ours." ~ Lash: "KABLOOM! Kindle is gonna go 'splat!")
* Random note - Interesting to see that Black Hole had Satellites and Anti-Satelite defense system and Orange Star was all "DUUUR THAT ARE DES THINGS :V" It really proves that Lash thinks ahead (when she's not distracted) because she not only made the satellite, but also built the anti-satellite defense system in case Orange Star ever found the plans.
Hoarding, Bad Table Manners, Food in general (The entire sequence with Rachel is pretty much why I ended up doing the whole CalorieMate idea, as she seems to imply that BH don't get much in terms of food. I figure Black Hole would go for some pretty cheap / easy to store food source. In my mind, Lash also got incredibly sick from all the food she ate that night. Also the fact she screams for Hawke's help when Jess is all "You will learn table manners young lady >B[" Fighting in a war - okay. Facing Jess and table manners: HELL ON EARTH.)
She has very little modesty, again with the HELLO I AM GODDAMN AWESOME. (Lash: "Yea, I'm not too shabby in woods. Any kind of rough terrain, really. Oh,well. I guess it's time to be a good girl and join the battle. Sigh...The ability to invent AND the ability to lead... Being a genius isn't easy." | Lash: "Watch those minicannons! They're nasty! Did I mention I invented those?Tee hee!" | Lash: "Look at them! Crowing over MY inventions! I'm disgusted! That's it. No more little miss nice perkygoth! It's smashin' time!!!")
She needs to brush up on her people skills (Sonja: "I wonder which clone will show up next?" | Lash: "Maybe it'll be a copy of you, right down to the plain face! Tee hee hee!" | Sonja: "Hey, that was mean! I don't think we could ever be friends.") I think Lash WAS trying to humor Sonja, but that's the only way she knew how back then. She also seems to care when Sonja asks her help to defeat her cloned father, but this replies with her 'very little modesty' part (Sonja: "Lash, please help me! I must win this battle!" | Lash: "What the? Hey, don't be a weirdo! Is one little clone really such a shocker? Oh, fine... I'll help. I'm bored anyway. Don't forget to thank me when we win!")
She's not too stupid about the entire moral balance either, but admits that disregarding them has its advantages. (Lash: "Hey, it's not like I made the thing! Sheesh! Gimme a break! Besides, Black Hole doesn't give a fig if technology is good or evil. That's why the bad guys always advance science... Because they're fearless!" | Lash: "Do you see that, Sonja? You're looking at the pinnacle of Black Hole technology. It's amazing what science can achieve if you ignore morality and all that noise... Tee hee hee! An unfettered scientific mind could turn men into gods!")

She cares about Hawke, in her own way. I tend to favor admiration mixed with tiny girl crush for a girl who doesn't understand men. (Hawke: "Lash. I'm sorry. I have mistreated you. Had I not strong-armed you into this... you would not have been called a traitor. I made excuses. Used you to my own end, so that I could continue to live."
Lash: "Aw, that's OK. Don't worry about it. I wouldn't be doing all this if I didn't like it, ya'know? I'm not an easy chick to push around... I only do what I want to do. And I'm here now because I want to fight with you... So let's fight!")
You can see a bit of niceness emerge at the end of the game: (Rachel: "And finally... Our former Black Hole COs, Lash and...Hawke. Hawke is...not with us...but I will not forget the sacrifice that both of you made." Lash: "Aw, you can forget it! I don't care! ...Well, I guess I do care a little bit...")

Birthplace: Black Hole Birthing Facilities #7. 9th child born that month.
Education: Taught most of her young life by Seth. Otherwise, self-taught, reading books and having a brilliant mind. Diploma wise...she has none. That never stopped her, however.
Relatives:
Father: Brow was Lash's biological father. A forty year old man at Lash's birth, he had been paired with a a woman before Lash's mother, but it was found it she had troubles baring children after their fourth failed attempt (all miscarriages). A lieutenant of passable grade, he was somewhat ruthless in the battlefield, not caring who he killed, be they man, women or children. As long as they were from the waring countries...
It is assumed that she not only inherit her dark black hair from him, but the right DNA sequence for her to have CO Powers. His father did not inhibit the powers himself, nor did he ever meet with his daughter considering he died in the first war, but he did hear of her progress at the hands of Seth and was proud as...well as a man of his caliber could be proud.
Mother: Whip was Lash's biological mother. Petite, around thirty years old and having long blond hair, she looked...pretty much nothing like Lash except for her height. But she was incredibly smart and most of the girl's quick thinking no doubt came from her. For a Black Hole operative, Whip was a lot more emotional than most other members, which might also explain how Lash was. Lash remembers very little of her, considering they last saw each other when she was five, but Whip looked to be a very proud lady who would smile only when Lash was around or behind closed doors.
Like most Black Hole operatives, she never saw her mother or her father together either. Her mother would speak of him being a lieutenant worthy of Black Hole and leave it at that.
Whip was killed in the middle of the second war, the reason is still unknown. Lash was never informed.
Mentor: Seth was Lash's teacher from her mother's removal at the age of five until the time of his untimely death from an Orange Star sniper when Lash was fourteen (it was later found out she had also been a target). Seth was pretty much the PERFECT Black Hole operative. Nearly devoid of emotions, cold, hard, calculating. He is part of the reason why she was so easily attached to Hawke, in an odd way.
Did I mention how cruel he was? The type of guy that would show Lash how to study the spine by murdering a scientist nearby who wasn't doing his job right. He borded on the near insanity, but because of his projects, Black Hole was able to clone humans near the end of his life. Lash learned a lot from him, and got some of her mannerism as well. He taught her to enjoy evil, and to use emotions against others. While she always had problems with the second, when you see cruelty in her eyes...no doubt was part of it.
Both Lash and Seth enjoyed chess games, and would sometimes play them with the lives of their soldiers. Yeaaah.
History:
Born to a female Black Hole Research Scientist and a Black Hole Lieutenant in the first years of Black's Hole control of all of it's birth children, Lash's life was already predestined to be one of servitude to the great Black Hole War Leaders. The surviving, but wrongly picked twin had her 'defects' hidden away by the doctor who gave birth to her and realized his mistake. She was sent to live with her mother and for the first five years of her life, mostly followed her around and helped her with her daily tasks, intermixed with watching Black Hole propaganda.
At a young age, she built her first war tank and it was the start of a brilliant career in the ranks of Black Hole, for better or worse. She was moved to the nuclear science division of the army, at the age of five, in the hopes to create the youngest scientific genius ever. Lash never saw her mother again. Life in a continent that was in a constant state of war, preparing to declare war or causing events so other continents fought each other made it so that you didn't really get attached to your family. Lash lived the rest of her so-called childhood in the laboratories of the Black Hole Army, following a terrible man named Seth who taught her very evil things and making her build various gadgets and dangerous weapons that were most certainly used to kill a lot of people. She, on the other hand, enjoyed it very much, and by having such a teacher, she was treating fellow scientist and war efforts like a beautiful game of chess. The childlike attitude never left her, for better or worse, even if Seth did his best to try to stamp out as much of the “negative” personality quirks Black Hole deemed useless, such as friendships and love.
Such routines meant she learned very little about how to live her daily life, caring little for things like eating right and proper manners. She ate with her hands and mostly lived on CalorieMates or grey food glop that was brought to her. All that was important to her was building and inventing, biology lessons with Seth and personal soldier training. Some were annoyed and frightened by the power she wielded, especially at her age, but her mind was a precious commodity.
A few years later, after the disappointing defeat of Clone Andy by Orange Star and the death of Seth during the same war, Lash preformed double duty, working both in the science and weapon departments. This lead to them preforming a few more tests where it was discovered she had the touch(tm). Okay, she had Commanding Officer Powers. This lead to a promotion by the current leader of Black Hole Sturm himself, which she accepted with much glee since she'd now get to see her weapons do damage FIRST HAND. Lash was thirteen.
She was a rather ruthless Commanding Officer, not caring if her army was killed in the crossfire. Much like in the science labs, she treated her units and soldiers like useless toys, calling them 'expendable' (tee hee), and the poor soldiers had to follow along or else. Many considered it a curse to be placed under her, as she barely listened to anyone's advice. The only people who could really calm her down or put her in her place were Sturm and the two of the three other Commanding Officers, Hawke, Sturm's second-in-command who Lash respected a great deal, Adder the CO who she found weird but enjoyed talking with and poor Flak, a soldier Hawke had appointed himself. Lash treated the large brute as her guinea pig for her experiments, much to his woe.
For a while that really went well, and Lash began to take over Yellow Comet, just as planned. But then the other nations started allying themselves to each other (those cheaters!) and she found herself fighting Sonja, daughter of Yellow Comet's emperor. Caught in war games, Lash couldn't help but respect her fellow strategist, enjoying their mind games with each other. Eventually she was forced to retreat back home, where the allied nations defeated them completely. The situation turned grim as Sturm turned desperate and threatened to kill everyone, friend and foes alike. Hawke stepped up and used the opportunity to kill him, saving everyone and ending the war. Lash chose to follow him, as he promised to rebuild Black Hole.
She found the idea fun.
The four of them worked on rebuilding all they had lost, which was a daunting task. Black Hole barely had any resources. Then the Bolt Guard showed up, saying they worked for the new leader named Von Bolt. Adder and Flak mysteriously disappeared, with Hawke and Lash reduced to the bottom of the CO food chain. Someone like Lash was rather transparent, and she openly hated the head of the Bolt Guard, Kindle. But her brain was a precious commodity and she continued to make weapons for them, considering Black Hole to be Black Hole one way or another. She'd been raised all her life in it, there was not much more she could do. Hawke, however, felt that the war effort was too drastic, even for their power-hungry nation.
He grew a little too curious about who their new mysterious leader was and found out the truth (they were using the Black Hole army to destroy the entire world so he could achieve immortality, SAY IT ISN'T SO), chased out by Von Bolt and slime-like creatures called Oozium 238, which could kill them easily. Lash was grabbed as an afterthought to save his skin and use as a meatshield if needed and they would have been terminated if not for the Allied Forces saving them under one of the new leaders named Jake. Lash took a mild interest at the strange boy after their first meeting. Okay, okay, she found him hilarious, with the way he spoke.
The desperate now Ex-Black Hole COs struck a deal, and both Hawke and Lash joined them begrudgingly, helping to end Von Bolt's tyranny. The cards set down for the final battle, it was ended when Jake was faced with either killing Von Bolt or letting him live. The CO chose to shoot his life support system instead, dooming the man to live the rest of his life sweeping the streets. He would not let himself be defeated in this matter, and Von-Bolt and activated a self-destruct sequence that would kill them all. Hawke volunteered to stay behind himself, and the others left the building as it collapsed. The Allied Nations celebrated their victory. A small personality shift took place, as Lash was forced to admit...hey she kinda liked those people. A little.
There was just one huge problem.
Peace returned to the land, and Lash knew that despite being a huge asset in the final days of the war, there would be those who would cry out for her head. Hawke was presumed dead and she had no more connections to anyone. Black Hole was in shambles and she wasn't powerful enough to revive it herself. Here she was, alone and without any science lab in a country that didn't like her. Stuck inside a mansion, she felt caged even worse than if she had been put in a prison. Heck, it was a prison, in her eyes, just a fancier one.ref
She turned bitter for a long while, refused to talk to anyone. But her brain was a precious commodity. Eventually Nell and Hachi got her to start talking and interacting, and even making her smile more. After six months of hard work, she was slowly changing for the better. She still refused to eat things apart form CalorieMates, but there was a change. Still, even Hachi knew that it wasn't safe for her to be out in Orange Star. Thankfully an opportunity showed itself in the form of a school named Smash Academy. Along with other Orange Star members, she was told she would get to attend, with them footing the bill.
The prospect of being away from Orange Star and having freedom never looked so promising to her. She left with the group and quickly settled in well with the crazy school, developing friendships and finding herself accepted by the people there. It was like starting a new life. She made friends, a concept which had been mostly alien to her before, and even developed a sort of family relationship with Robotnik, Flurrie and Kirby, and then Ho-Oh, Lugia and Xatu, forming the Band of the Hawke, in memory of her dead commander. The girl who would be a Pokémon trainer.
Then the Aparoids came. First, Hawke turned out not to be dead, then the pair managed to recruit a blonde haired janitor named Raiden into their fold. Flak and (for a while) Adder came back and it looked like things might take a turn for the worst...but they lacked the funds to start an army again. So they stayed in the school, not doing that much. Lash was happy with this (mostly), her new life having taken over. She was different, right? Friends came and left, and the Band of the Hawke was mostly disbanded, until a certain yellow bird appeared and she was more than willing to start it over again.
Then one fateful February day of this year, all of Hachi and Nell's teachings were thrown out of the window, and she slowly started to become more like the old Lash, trying to make sure that the Orange Star CO didn't discovering this. Of course this complicated matters when she slapped Jake in the face, but so far the other CO hasn't mentioned it to anyone...now determined to get Black Hole running again once and for all, she quit the job she worked with Kumatora, and set on keeping herself mostly by herself to work on her inventions...yet she still had some hesitations.
Feeling a bit lost at her mixed identity crisis and which one she should follow, what should come along than a teacher leaving, and the Headmaster calling her up for a meeting...for her to replace him for the rest of the year. At his approval. Ooooh boy. Should she provide to be acceptable, she might even be able to teach it next year.
And thus Lash was given access to some of Smash Academy's most dangerous weapons.
