I went food shopping today to get all the stuff my mum wants to buy me for uni. And she bought me a ton of stuff. Not that I'm complaining- I'll be skint when I get there, and all this food's probably gonna last me about two weeks. And I found out that a vegan diet doesn't actually seem that difficult. I've got pasta and cous cous, some soup, crisps, beans, tinned fruit- all kinds of stuff. Aside from some packs of cereal bars (tho to make myself feel better I got the raisin kind instead of the chocolate ones) and a packet of biscuits (they're meant to be an 'ice breaker', but considering that I have already met the new housemates, however briefly, surely that isn't necessary. It wasn't even necessary last year when I was pushed into a house of 24 none of us had ever had anything to do with each other before that day), there is no egg or dairy in anything. As far as I'm aware anyway- I'm hoping that I haven't somehow missed something on the packaging. I don't think many things would have a clear 'Suitable for Vegans' symbol even if it is suitable for vegans.
Didn't get any hummus tho. Would have liked to.
And tonight we had pizza and finally watched The City of Lost Children. The family didn't seem to into it at first, because it is a fucking weird film- visually it's very steampunk, and the plot is just ultimately bizarre. And then there's the general oddness of the conjoined twins and the identical clones in the oil rig. It is very confusing. I really did like it, just because i adore weirdness and complex plots, but I think it definitely needs a second watch to make sense of it. Tho with the subtitles next time- it automatically went to the dub, and it bugs me when the lip synch's off. And also, the child actors doing the dub spoke in a really annoying way.
Definitely rated tho.
So, yeah, I'm moving back to Sheffield on Saturday. Started picking out clothes today, and suffice it to say, there ain't gonna be much space in the car on the way there. I can't wait to get back tho. Aside from the fact that there will be no parental nagging and I can do things in my own time, I will be able to stay up till 5am guilt-free again, and there will be plenty of free-flowing alcohol. I was texting Chris from back in Beechwood earlier today, and he reckons his resistance has gone down over summer too, so we're both gonna have a laugh at how quickly we get drunk. Tho his resistance has always been higher than mine anyway, so it'll probably get to the point where he's getting tipsy and I'm getting sick. Should still be fun tho.
And the Fleet Foxes are playing the union. I really want to get a ticket, because I really like them, but money is going to be so tight this year. I suppose I'll have to go to the box office and check the price *sigh*
And then of course there's book buying. Mum has suggested I take some money out of my ISA to take care of it, because my loan doesn't come in until after Fresher's Week for some reason, and I'm £714.63 overdrawn in my Natwest account.
I hope she realises most of this money is going to be spent on booze.
I'm really excited.
So that's me. And that was probably largely of no interest. O well. It's not like I have anything better to talk about.
How is everyone?
veganism,
movies,
boredom,
movie night
