Havemercy

I finally decided to start reading Havemercy this month. It took me a while to get into it, but it's a pretty good book. I love how it has an RPG-feel to it, and is told from the viewpoint of four very different characters. Of course there's the BL element to it, which I have to admit is part of the reason I chose to read it in the first place, but beyond that, it's a nicely crafted world, albeit a seemingly male-dominated one (not that I mind so much).

I like that Havemercy the dragon has a mind of her own and is able to converse with her rider. Their relationship reminds me of Eragon or the more similar Chosen-Herald relationship between Mercedes Lackey's Vanyel and Yfandes (which I read just before reading Havemercy). I'm always eager to read different takes on magic and their users' sources, so I love the concept of the Well.

I haven't finished the book yet, and it's on hold indefinitely, but I am looking to get back to reading it sometime and am interested in reading the upcoming sequel.

who reads books these days? (i do)
