I can't figure out Soul Coughing's "Ruby Vroom."
Everything Ive read about that album is how fantastic and ground breaking it was, but it seems that most, (if not all) of the album are remixes/samplings of Sugarcubes' stuff.
I like the sugarcubes OK, except for whats-his-face's vocals. (about as annoying as Lyden) And Soul Coughing's remixes are ok, but I dont get what the groundbreaking part is. This came out in 94, remixes/sampling had been around for at least fifteen years beforehand, and what I was hearing on this album was pretty unremarkable, even for music from 94.
I know that SC was known for that sort of thing, but I dont see what's so innovative about remixing an album's worth of sugarcubes stuff.
Clearly Im missing something.
