Not much time, but at Blue Aloe's request, here's some Sock Progress. I've gotten the first part of the heel done, and this Wednesday night I learn to "turn" the heel. I am very excited!
This shot shows you the stitch used for the heel, called (interestingly enough) the "Heel Stitch". :-) It's K1, Sl1 across, then Purl all the way back. This makes for a soft & cushiony heel, and in effect creates two layers for better wear.
I've bought another set of needles, and am trying to get the 2nd sock close to this point so Wednesday night I can turn BOTH heels - Wish me luck! No pics of the 2nd sock yet, it's only at 1/2" just now. Patience. No, actually, I've got to stop typing so I can get back to knitting!
I'll be back in a day or so with more pictures; Saturday, Boo & I planted the cold weather crops in our garden! In two weeks, Edwin will help me break ground to enlarge the garden, and then when the frost danger has passed, we'll put in at least four more, more like six more crops...not counting the Tomatoes I want to do in pots this year.
Saturday we planted: Beets, Carrots, Sugar Snap Peas, and Spinach (savoy leaved). In two weeks I'll plant Smooth-leaved Spinach, and then after frost time, I'll plant: Broccoli, Lima Beans, Butternut AND Buttercup squash, and maybe Cubanelle peppers (italian frying peppers - sweet, not hot) and maybe Summer (yellow) squash. Oh, Boo & I also want to get a Blackberry bush for the yard. MMMMMM!!
I'm also going to have to start recording what Boo's eating again; food has returned to "an issue" - fights every mealtime just to get her to take a few bites. She'd eat the same thing forEVER, and we try to get some variety in...sigh.
On the job front, Edwin hasn't gotten one yet. Interviewed for one, didn't get it - has applied for a bunch more and not gotten callbacks on them. We're waiting on a few other things, but he's still searching in the meantime. Also, submitted one more invoice, and waiting on that. I know you're all keeping us in your thoughts, and I SO appreciate it! I'm actually going on a women's retreat through my Church on April 1st, so that should be very nice...I'll need it. This Friday is the Interrment of my Uncle Clive's ashes. I'm also dealing with my Mother not knowing how to handle my stepfather, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and I don't call it "early" anymore - it is getting worse.
Have a good night, all - off to watch Baseball (Go, Japan!), cuddle my changeling, and knit. :)
