Hello, Megan!

Below is a summary of the Hello, Megan! Challenge. If you are interested please leave a note, and feel free to give and discuss ideas.

YJ has a few shows within the show, one of which is Hello, Megan! What we know about Hello, Megan! is this -

The main character's name is Megan, and she is a cheerleader in high school.
This is where M'gann picks up the "Hello, Megan!" catchphrase.
Presumably it's an older show, 60's or 70's, since M'gann learned about Earth from TV signals that are a few decades old, and since the habits she seems to have picked up from it are old fashioned.

So, the idea here is that our M'gann grows up to be a television producer/writer/something-or-other (which may or may not owe to those talks between her and Lex about their favorite shows, and him deciding she should be in charge), and does a remake of Hello, Megan! which IN NO WAY AT ALL RESEMBLES THE YJ TEAM - IT'S ALL A COINCIDENCE.

And, through people signing up in a challenge like environment, we get all 26 episodes of the first season (plus possible extra goodies) written.

To keep things as cohesive as possible there would be editing at the end to add or subtract details, and check for plot holes. There would also be a general format. Currently the format would be present tense, third person objective (with occasional third person limited in situations of fantasy scenes and flash backs), as this would best reflect the POV you get in television, and between 3,000 and 4,500 words per ep (those that would like to participate but do not feel comfortable making a commitment to the word count could request part of an episode that follows several characters, and then write only the scenes following one set of characters).

Character backgrounds -

Megan Moss has a big family in a small conservative town, and is dating the sheriff's son. Her boyfriend is controlling, and subtly belittles her (tries to make it so the only worth that she feels is through being his girlfriend), but as far as everyone is concerned they are the perfect couple, and nothing is wrong. Megan wants to be a cheerleader, and tries out against her family and her boyfriends wishes. Her boyfriend confronts her, roughing her up and calling her a slut/whore/ect. Before it can get too far Megan's visiting Uncle John intervenes. When both the family and the community show that they will take no actions against the boyfriend, and that a majority think that "she was asking for it" Uncle John convinces her family that she should come and live with him. Megan is enrolled in ____ High, and Uncle John also enrolls her in self defense classes. She has some self esteem issues and is very eager to please, but she gains confidence as the series progresses and will surprise even herself in defense of her friends.

Coulton Kendell (Conner) grew up in California with his drug addict, abusive mother, Alexa Beauford. When she gets caught in a violent drug deal and is sentenced to two years in prison she contacts Christopher Kendell (Clark), the father Coulton has always been told left when he found out she was pregnant, to take him in. In truth years ago when the two were in a relationship Alexa she was abusive. Ashamed that he was being beaten by a woman, and in love with her he stayed in the relationship for years, but for all that he never fought back Alexa new he wouldn't let a child in the same environment. Convinced that they wouldn't stay together, and that if he knew she wouldn't be able to keep the child, Alexa left without telling him. Despite everything Christopher still has some feelings for Alexa. Christopher takes Coulton in, but can't help feeling resentful about the reminder of a part of his past he thought he had put behind him. None of this is helped by the fact that, too embarrassed and guilty about what really happened, Christopher doesn't correct any assumptions. Coulton is socially awkward, and his first response is often to lash out physically.

Kay Dorin (Kaldur) is a Navy brat. With his mother on duty at sea, and his father KIA years ago he stays with his legal guardians Arthur and Nora King. Arthur, a former Navy officer himself, received a political job the previous spring which moved all of them from their last home in Atlanta, Georgia. Kay left behind two close friends, Trisha and Garfield, who are also Navy brats. Nora is recently pregnant, and Kay sometimes worries about what will happen when they have a child of their own. Because Kay has lived many different places, including overseas where he spoke another language, his manner of speech can sometimes come across as formal, and he has been known to use odd turns of phrase. He became quick friends with Will East, Timothy Grace, and Rick Archer after moving.

Timothy Grace (Dick) is the sole survivor of his family, the rest having died several years ago in a violent unsolved murder. He was adopted soon after by local buissnessman Thomas Harter (Bruce). Thomas is known for throwing extravagent parties, and indulging. Timothy excells at math, computer hacking, and gymnastics/free running/parkour. He is best friends with Will East.

Will East (Wally) is a hyperactive track and field star and class clown. He joins cheerleading first for the girls (including the temporary coach that led tryouts), but stays afterwards and begins to learn a greater apreciation for the girls on the team and the sport itself. He and best friend Timothy Grace style themselves defenders of the nerds (as Timothy is a giant math geek, and Will science), and will go out of their ways to engage bullies. Will's father is in the "waste disposal" buissiness, a hit man for the local mob. He gets abusive to Will when he drinks heavily. While Will is aware that his family has mob connections what he doesn't know is that his favorite Uncle Jerry and his "Grandfather" are both leaders in the mob, and that they want Will to be next in line (although it explains how mild mannered Jerry can intimidate Will's father). The mob, originally of Irish decent but now including members across ethnicities, is known for painting lights green (so that the light that shines through is tinted) when marking territory or sending messages.

Arty Cook (Artemis) is a transfer student from rival school ____, something that initially causes tension between her and Will East. Both of Arty's parent are cops, and her older sister has followed into the same line of work. As her father likes to put it "blue is in [their] blood." Her mother no longer works on the force after she was hit during a shoot out leaving her paralyzed from the waste down. Her father is currently doing undercover work. Arty insists that when she grows up she's going to do something different. (Because Arty's father is undercover it apears at first as though he is part of a rival mob.)

Rick Archer (Roy) is the son of a wealthy buisness man, Oscar Green (Ollie), and heir to his envirmentally friendly corporation. He knows Timothy, and by extension Will, through their fathers, and has often taken on the role of big brother to the two boys. After graduating Rick took a college offer in Washington to get as far away from his father as he could. There he has a run in with a young officer Cook, who he has an adversarial relationship with. Even though he lives far away the others often call him for advice (later in the series this extends past Timothy and Will to include all of the teenagers).

Several episodes would parralell the construction or themes of the YJ episodes, but obviously because this a non-powered AU not all would be transferable (and of course we haven't seen all the episodes yet).

There are a number of other things that have been noted down, and you can some things in this thread, and some over at TV tropes Darth Wiki for Hello, Megan! if you want to look around at some more stuff on this. The idea of this post is in part to get things ironed out, and organized in a way that can be used easily to create the episodes (and while TV Tropes is wonderful and addicting personally I have a hard time cunstructing a timeline from it or making sure things are not contradicting each other) as well as to see how much interest there actually is. Most likely this page will be edited to reflect some more things about the timeline/ep summaries that are already available, and any new details added during discusion, and if not this page than another.
