Surprisingly enough not from a prompt.
Summary: M'gann likes the Harry Potter books. Sirius is her favorite character.
Warning: Dark material, implied character death
M'gann loves Earth's culture. There's so much of it and it's all so rich. She learns new things from it every day and those new things shed light on old things and all of it makes her feel full and alive.
Harry Potter is one of her favorites. She's learns that part of the reason she likes it is from identifying with the characters. (She learned that part online in the authors note of one of her favorite fanfictions and now when she looks at Earth culture she looks for herself in what's there instead of making herself into what she sees. She finds herself in more places then she thought she would.)
Her favorite character is Sirius Black. Sirus comes from a family that does bad things because they think they're better then other people but when he goes to school he finds a group of friends that help him be different. A group of friends that are like family, that mean more to him then his family.
She knows what that's like.
In the Harry Potter world the wizards have forbidden spells. Techniques that are never to be used. Unfogivables.
There are similar techniques on Mars and M'gann knows why they are forbidden. She knows that just like in Harry Potter there are still Martians that use them.
In Harry Potter Voldemort is the evil man in charge of the Death Eaters and one of Sirius's friends, Peter Petigrew, betrays their little family. Harry's parents die and the rest of them are torn apart and suffer for years.
This man's name is Vandal Savage and his orginization is called The Light. Her friends are crumpled around here, flickering presences in her mind or none at all. M'gann herself is injured, burns running along her entire left side. Across from them the betrayer (she can't even think their name, they don't deserve to have one) watches with a blank face.
M'gann knows why the techniques are forbidden. She knows why Sirius confronted Peter that day.
She knows she won't make his mistake.
M'gann's skin bleaches white and the room is filled with screams.
