ok, it's crunch time.

i have to write a 6-8 page paper for my Russian Lit. class and i arbitrarily decided to write about Pushkin's The Bronze Horseman. i love Pushkin, should be easy peasy, right? WRONG. how the hell am i supposed to write an 8 page paper about a 3-page poem? i requested all these Russian journals and Pushkin criticism from the library, but since Thompson (main library) is under construction UNTIL 2009, i have to have everything delivered to the Science & Engineering Library or some other close library. shittt.

i have to create a 2-minute video that is divided into two parts and has only diegetic sound. i was thinking about recording the first part as a silent introduction to a room and then recording people singing a song wearing my big Pioneer 1985 headphones sitting on the couch in the room. but i have no idea how to organize it or who would consider being filmed and what song.. FUCK.

digression: i hate my 4D class. you know a class is ridiculously organized when you have to describe it to your father as "that weirdly vague and ambiguous class i have MWF." my dad has expressed concern that i am wasting money on silly, useless classes such as 208, but i am required to take it! i don't even know what the class is supposed to be about.. the course description literally says: "4-Dimensional Design; Real and Recorded Time: Introduction to basic concepts of real time and recorded time-based artworks using a variety of processes and media." a class about working with time? required to enter the BA program? what the fuck?! AND IT'S WORTH 3 CREDIT HOURS!!! so far we've made one book, one stop-motion animation, and looked at about 20 hours worth of other artists' work. oh, and did a research presentation with 2 days' notice about anything. literally, anything we wanted.

i know i'm bitching. sometimes it just has to come out though. i'm just incredibly frustrated with the levels of work i'm putting into this class with a hippie art school fucking instructor wanting us to "feel our idea of art" when i could be studying for my real classes or preparing for the portfolio review or applying for internships - basically doing real college things instead of messing around with iMacs all day. OH SNAP.
