Hartnell vs Hancock

I've been reading yet another bio of British comedy great Tony Hancock and was intrigued to find that even his most popular TV shows were soundly beaten in the ratings by ITV's "The Army Game". Some people engage in highly hypocritical behaviour and, yes, it is hard to know how to deal with it.

In the case of "Ms Y", I think it's greatly exacerbated by a number of her friends acting as an unjudging cheer squad, agreeing with everything she says, no matter what. Any dissenting opinion is drowned out by the cheer squad, leading her to have a totally distorted view that everything she says and does is great.

Got it in one Captain. What's worse is that long term friends like us have been progressively cast away in favour of the sychophants, rather as an increasingly paranoid dictator removes talented people in favour of courtiers. It also cannot be denied that she is increasingly acting in a manner that she strongly disapproves of in others, does she really want to become known as the female equivalent of dragonman?

I have been thinking about a panel for Continuum 5 about what fans do after a favourite show comes to an end. Your post about Hancock and The Army show is interesting. I know lots about Hancock and loved how funny it all was, but whilst I have seen Carry on sargeant I don't remember much. It is an interesting process and yes I do think of The Army show as a Doctor Who footnote. Hmmm

That is be a good panel concept and one I've not seen, be good for the WC as well. You could use it to show clips from the Trek & Dr Who spinoff fanfilms.

Actually when I read your post title I thought you were going to tell me off for having a go at Ms Y, but of course you remember what happened at the MSFC 10-11 years ago don't you?

I just love a good Winston Churchill quote. I am not in the loop as far as ms Y goes. I don't think I have seen any of the posts, including yours. Ghod, ten years ago at the MSFC, thats like 500 meetings back, a lot of coffee has been passed in the time since (Life is too short to drink instant rubbish),
