The Marriage of the Sun and the Moon

There are few things I have seen that are more beautiful than the trees
in their full emerald gowns singing and laughing on the hills --
they are God's hands you know and they embrace us and hold us
as he breathes warm and calmly on us -- it is tomorrow you will see
rising over the hills with her fiery veil and clouds like ribbons.

And the moon is her lover with his fields of diamond flowers
in the night sky that is crystal breathless, sharp, clear and cool.
They are ever in a search for the other -- for they have been lost,
but God will one day reunite them in a shower of rainbows and ruby;
the stars will finally blossom and we all will rise for the wedding.

And the love will spread through every fiber, blade of grass, bone,
and through the way I look into your eyes as the sun joins her husband.
Her ribbons will fall down around her shimmering ankles, wrapping around us
in a violet mist; the trees will grow strong, their roots deep --
God's hands shielding us as time's rivers run dry and the stars bloom quietly.
