always the middle
how far can you go into a forest
before you are going out again

She never used the endtables
all that preservation
and the vodka
made her hand unsteady

and she was stuck there
her legs wobbling
unable to carry her mind
and what should I have done

I drank with her sometimes
always going to bed first
hearing her climb the stares
