Though I'm not religious, I liked this quote I found while working on my thesis:
"dat den mensch sig moet helpen al of'er geenen Godt en waere ende niet-te-min op Godt betrauwen al of'er geene menschelyke hulpe en soude wesen"
Or in English: "that man should help himself as if there were no God and nevertheless trust on God as if there were no human help"
