Yes, posting at work is a bad habit, and yes, posting links is definitely a bad habit, but I've been doing a lot of reading lately... reconnecting with the zeitgeist, as we wrongfully use the term here in America.
Since the US Government, Sex, and Armed Rebellion are my three themes of the day, here's something to chew on, because I don't have time to rant =P

Who knew it had gotten this bad, seriously? Why are people putting up with this bullshit? Is this representation? No, it's not, it's called "Loud Christian Assholes Make All The Rules And The Rest Of Us Get No Say Because We're Minding Our Own Business" , and I'm getting really tired of this game. BUT... how much can I complain? Our system hasn't been so throughly flouted yet that things can't be fixed, or at least improved. People are just too damn complactent to do anything... and Capitalism is built that way... the ones with the resources have the least incentive to change a damn thing.

Speaking of which, who noticed the new video game sales laws in New York, huh? I know you've all seen The Dark Knight at this point, so it's safe to make a comparison. I am not easy to squick, I have killed animals with my bare hands and eaten them raw, I have fought off violent attacks against family members, and that movie had scenes in it that left ME genuinely disturbed (in a great way).
So what the hell kind of immoral, self-righteous prick tells me that my fourteen-year-old can see a movie that had enough psychological tension and violence in it to make my bowels clench, but afterward, he's not allowed to buy a copy of Halo? Isn't allowed to play Call of Duty 4... a game that viscerally simulates what he could legally be doing with himself in 4 more years? Can't play Metal Gear Solid... a game series that has more pacifist messages and anti-war attitude than the Bible? What the hell, people. These idiots are telling us how we're allowed to raise our children, and historically, guess what they'll grow up like? Just like the people who make the rules. Squeamish, pro-America but anti-Real-Life materialistic nutjobs who think a credit card is the final solution, and doesn't ask questions because they're constantly being told what to buy. People who's idea of thinking outside the box is being swept into the exact corner of it where those in power want them, so can be most easily watched. A race of people who may very well be the end of our species because they have such a guilt complex about sexuality and healthy expression that they may never learn how to fuck properly, much less raise a family that can accomplish something useful other than score 40% off at the Aeropostale on a good day.

I am telling you, we had better HOPE our country stays on top of the current arms race, because the next race of people that appears that isn't afraid to fight, screw, and point out the emperor's dong hanging out while he's on the street (failed Citizen's Arrest on Karl Rove, anyone? Why isn't anyone standing up for these people?), is going to wipe the floor with our half-assed, holy-rolling corpses. And that race of people may very well be born here. Hell, it may have already happened... and what did Frank Herbert teach us that history backs up? Nothing toughens men like opression, and some of this is starting to feel like oppression to me. No, I've got nothing on the average Chinaman, an African tribesman, or anyone who lived on the continent through WWII... but I know how these things start, it's not hard to see at all.

Games are important enough... invade my bedroom and these totalitarian @$$holes are begging for some serious trouble.
