*Instead of hanging out in one place, Sollux is being a bit more active today. Though that really just means he's moping in several different places ( Read more... )

[Tsia's been stalking the grounds and she was aware of the hives any time she decides to sit down and concentrate. The insects were usually rather calm, for being a swarm, seemingly content to go on about their business. Whatever that may be.

Then that buzzing calmness seems to amp up a bit in the gate. Like the volume being turned up on a comm. She picks up enough of that agitation to be curious what was causing it and carefully picks her way across the Keep toward it. She's anticipating everything that was likely causing the ruckus but the scene before her.

There is grey skinned and horned boy gathering something from these black and yellow insects and putting it in jars. It was golden colored and gives her a bit of a pause.]

"What are you doing? What is that?"

[She's given up that people can understand her, but she's not mute and she won't be playing the part.]

*Since he's got the earworm translator grub, Sollux has done a good job of forgetting all these different languages in the keep. Sure, he knew some people spoke them, but since it all sounded the same to him he just expected people to know he understood them.

He pauses in his work as Tsia enters, and slowly turns to face her. Spooking the bees was never a good idea.*

Honey. *He holds out the jar.* Want some?

[Okay, so it's not a projection of some kind. He seemed to turn and answer her and is holding out the jar with whatever is inside it toward her. But the moves are slow and deliberate and not threatening at all.

It kind of looks like a kid.

But it still doesn't speak the language she knows. She sighs and shakes her head.]

"Nevermind. No. I don't understand."

Ugh.

*Sollux puts the jar down and steps away from the hives. He pulls out his journal and flips it open so he can transmit to her.*

Honey. It's...well I guess its just something sweet here.

[She sees the damned journal come out but now- well that's a use for it she didn't really fathom, and wasn't too interested when she had gotten pissed off. In fact she'd been so mad seeing how the stupid thing came back that she hasn't touched it since.

Doesn't mean she has to like it but, right now it's proving to be worth something.

The look of sudden comprehension should be priceless.]

Wait. You can understand me? Do you have a working temple link? Who are you? What is this place?!

[The honey is promptly forgotten about. She's rather excited to meet someone that she's able to use words with. Though, Tsia's approach might just be a little bit too eager-]

Yeah, I can understand what you say. I don't have a temple link, whatever that is, just a translator grub.

By 'this place' do you mean the building or the keep?

A grub? Wait-

[Of course he doesn't have a temple link- he doesn't look like he's even fifteen yet. How is this-

She shoos one of the insects away from her face irritably. It buzzes unhappily.]

Any information that you can impart, will be useful. How much do you know? How did you get caught here, since you don't have a link? What country are we in? How much can you actually tell me?

[If this was anything like the last time she was in captivity- slaves couldn't tell much, but this not-linked but in the nodie-crazy-world was weird, unless the boy was apart of the programming-]

*Sollux sighs.*

You didn't read the note, did you?
We're not in your universe anymore, we're in a place called 'Holloway's Keep.' No one really knows how we got here, but the fuck who runs the place says he did it. I know some, but if you have trouble with that much then it won't do you any good.

I read the note, but like I'm really supposed to believe it? This is some crazy nodie's dreamer-channel. I've not left Risthmus. I know I haven't because-

[She reflexively jerks away from that thought. Then realizes that it was silly. If it is the black jacks that nailed her- they already know she's a guide, even if they don't know her link.]

-because if I had hit Q on the way out, the virus would be dead. I'm a guide and my gate is intact.

[At least make the lies believable?]

*Sollux sighs*

I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. I'm not from your universe. But this place is outside all of our universes, the rules don't work the same as you're used to. Unless maybe you've moved around between universes yourself, but it wasn't the same for me so I doubt its the same for you.
I know it looks stupid and unbelievable, but its true. At least the part about your universe being gone.

[She shoos one of the buzzing insects away to rubs the bridge of her nose.]

It sounds really stupid.

[What the hell- lets play along a bit.]

By universes- are you speaking of galaxies? A collection of stars clumped together in space?

thii2ii22tupiid November 25 2011, 19:03:24 UTC
You probably don't want to piss those off, at least not this close to their hive.

Nope, I mean universes. Planes of existence. Dimensions. Whatever term you want to use for it. Much bigger than galaxies, usually.

[She takes the warning with a raised eyebrow.]

What'll they do? Bite?

[She gestures with her hand.]

You are trying to tell me that this is a different Reality? An actual existence that is outside the realm and histories that I know, that the races of my galaxy know and into some sort of kooky new reality? That this is all REAL?

[Come off it. You're shitting her.]

They sting. If they decide your a threat to the hive or the queen, they'll swarm you.

*He sighs.*

Wow, it only took you two tries to get it. Yes, I mean this is a totally different reality than you come from. And I'm from another, and most people here are from yet more universes. And, yes, its fucking real.

Lovely.

[Note: yellow and black stripes, do not piss off. Swarms of anything sucked.]

If you realize how stupid and unbelievable it sounds, then perhaps you shouldn't berate people for disbelieving it? Makes it more likely they'll buy the story you're selling.

Then why is it, that there are people here, if the universes we have come from are gone, instead of gone ourselves?

[She's old enough to be your grandmother- you look about tweleve, grey horned child. She'd concede the point that there are some theories that have been around for thousands of years and they have yet to be proven, that involve multiple realities. This picking and choosing nonsense doesn't fit even with those.]

I don't berate people for disbelieving, I berate people for refusing to accept the possibility that they're wrong about what's going on here.

Fuck if I know, I'm not the one behind all this shit.
