001: [Action] I am the Cat who walks by herself, and all places are alike to me.

Parker is on the floor of a carousel. This would be fine for most people, but as Parker has a serious distrust of horses -- she used to loathe them but that’s tempered to unhealthy distrust -- she is not amused. They’re all too pretty and sparkly, and look like they’re hiding something. When she stands, she looks one straight in the eye, ( Read more... )

Lucy is walking through the City, scrolling through network posts and sipping at an iced latte. Her Prada bag is hanging off one shoulder, gaping open from where she pulled her wallet out to pay for the drink then shoved it back in.

She might also be bopping along to music on her ipod.

Parker moves in step behind the woman. She's such an easy mark that Parker might have felt sorry for her.

No, that is not true, Parker loves easy marks. They don't love her, which is why it is best they don't notice her.

It's simple, a brush past, with a shoulder, hiding the movement of her hand as it grabs the wallet from the open handbag.

Open handbag, clearly this woman deserves to have her money stolen.

"Sorry," Parker says. Some pickpockets argue it would be better to say nothing, but when it comes to thievery, Archie taught her a few manners will often convince a mark that never could such a polite person steal anything.

Parker wonders how much the ratio will be of cash versus cards but doesn't dare to check until she can duck in an alley, out of view.

Lucy glances up at the shoulder brush and for a moment there's just shock on her face. She knows this woman. Her first thought is Hardison is going to be so glad to see her.

Of course this is what comes out of her mouth.

"O M G!! Hardison is going to be SOOO happy to see you!"

And then some restraint.

"I'm Lucy."

There are very few things in the world that would make Parker stop in her tracks, and turn on a mark.

She is also not one to ask for clarification; she heard the other woman perfectly clearly.

The wallet is slipped into her pocket and the polite woman offering the apology of moments ago vanishes. There is an intense examination like Parker's trying to decide whether or not to answer or snap this woman's neck.

Then again, there is a taser in her pocket. "What do you know about Hardison? Are you stopping the signal Lucy?" Each word sounds like a deadpan and dangerous accusation.

Doll's walking by on one of her daily trips to the Welcome Center, her puppy trotting happily at her heels and a stack of city guides in her arms. They're always needing more with the constant new arrivals, and even if after some bad experiences of her own she doesn't feel comfortable waiting for the arrivals herself, she still keeps an eye out for them because she knows just how confusing the place can be at first.

She hasn't got much else on her besides some money and candy and her device in her pockets, and is now busy trying not to trip over Tiger as the small dog takes it into his head to wind himself around her ankles.

It's a 3.2 second assessment: dog, full arms, distracted, and all the regular pockets are obviously being used for the usual items.

She's about to dip into the all too accessible pockets, when she sees what in her mark's arms. Snatching one off the top, there's a brief whoosh sound as Parker steps in front, holding up the guide.

"This for here?"

Doll teeters dangerously when Parker suddenly appears from her blind side, close to losing her balance between that and the unhelpful puppy. It's only her years of practice on the tightrope that have her managing to right herself in time and keep all the rest of the guides safely in her arms.

"For 'ere? Oh, you mean is it 'bout the City? Yeah, they are! Did ya just get 'ere then?" Even after more than a year living in the City her cockney accent is just as broad as it used to be back home, and she offers Parker a smile as Tiger moves in to sniff at the new arrival's feet in a curious but friendly way.

Parker looks at the dog, with little interest. As long as it doesn't try to chew her ankles, Parker puts on a huge grin and her best faux-Southern accent, "Yes'm I surely did. And I'd be much obliged should you give me one of those lovely looking guides to help me find my way."

For someone unused to a Southern accent, it might sound genuine. For someone used to a Southern accent, Parker would be sorry, if she were capable of such a thing.

Eliot doesn't like the carousel either. Fake animals are creepy, kind of like clowns. Real animals are better. So he isn't necessarily near the carousel. But he is en route between the prison and his and Hardison's place. And when he sees Parker from afar, he stops dead in his tracks. He waits, noticing that she's looking for something, probably someone.

He starts walking toward her. "Parker?"

"Eliot?" That might be said with the oddest mixture of surprise, expectation, and something treading along the lines of slightly amused.

And she could totally get his wallet. If she felt like it.

"How long have you been here?" Cause honestly with Parker, that was a valid question to ask. He stopped a few feet away from her, maintaining his own personal space.

"About 71 minutes," exact Parker is exact. As she's not in a good mood, she's not going to invade Eliot's personal space.

Wait, that's not true, as she steps up to him, almost nose to nose, "She," the word is spit out like it's an expletive, as Parker points to Lucy, "knows Hardison."

Her voice gets lower. "Is she dangerous? I can't tell."

Sadly, that is a very serious question, as she looks at Eliot, full of expectation for a very serious answer.
