Work is giving me gray hairs. We were at the second job site, the Sears on Cottman (across from Artifax). John, one of the crew members, was setting up the push kettle. He left the propane torch set up to melt the tar. The flame had gone out but the propane was still being released. I turned of the torch, took it out, and relit it. I went to place it back into the kettle when it erupted into flames. Apparently the propane had collected in the cooling chamber of the kettle and ignited when the torch contacted it. Luckily it only burst into flames and singed some hair on my arm. Had some pressure built up the kettle might have exploded sending shrapnel everywhere, mainly into me since i was crouching right next to the kettle. Once i realized what had occured, i fell to my knees and thanked my deity. Just another day at work.
