Sigh. Apparently Wade-Giles is dead.

Are you actually talking about a Romanization system?

Thomas Wade died in 1895. Herbert Giles died in 1935.

Where did you think Wade-Giles was living?

Want to write my non Wade-Giles papers for me, Miles dearest?

I barely know what that means, hon. When I first saw this post, I thought you had a cat in Kaohsiung named Wade-Giles who had died. I'm a little out of my depth here.

The funny thing about that is last night I started thinking about giving a cat "Wade-Giles" for a middle name.

My papers have nothing to do with romanization systems. It's only that I can't romanize Chinese the way I prefer that has me artificially upset.

Strange. Why'd we both go to cats?

And I think that's a completely valid reason to be upset. But then, I would, wouldn't I?

I've seen Wade-Giles in books published in 2002 and 2003. Who has proscribed Wade-Giles? Who dare contradict the will of the Duke of Zhou? (I'm sorry - Tu-k'o O-fu Chou).

Master Copp has proscribed my consistent use of Wade-Giles for his seminar paper.

I am blown away by the idea of Chinglish Wade-Giles. Next paper/journal entry/online conversation I have mei-p'i en-t'i-er-li lai-k'o ta-t'eh.
