I had a wonderful holiday. Wednesday was Lola's birthday, so I worked a 1/2 day and spent the rest of time with her out and about at all her favorite places. Or places that I think she likes. What's not to like about going to places where people feed you? Wednesday night, my family had cake and icecream and presents for her (ok, my entire family is nuts). Thanksgiving was wonderful - my mother is the best cook ever and made her usual fantastic dinner! Saturday, I lazed around with Lola and then the girls (Deb, Liz, Marita, and I) went to a VERY cool neuvo-Mexican tapas restaurant in Crystal City. The cosmopolitans were perfect, the food amazing. We ate all sorts of little dishes, but my favorites were pheasant with rose petals, chihuahua cheese with mexican sausage, and the olive tampanade. Just incredible food! Sunday I didn't have pottery class, but the artist who owns the studio invited the "old timers", which I am part of now, to use the studio all day Sunday. Which I did. I've really made a lot of progress and the four mugs that I finished glazing have turned out amazing. I threw a jar with a cute little lid, two vases, two more HUGE mugs (I like a mug that holds a LOT of coffee), and a large urn. I have to say that they are turning out really well. Let's see how they look after their first firing. Sometimes that's a whole different story. I glazed a candy dish two weeks ago that I thought looked like a pile of clay shit. When I picked it up on Sunday...damn, it looked really cool. :-)
Work today was pretty good. Lot's of little funny moments. That's what happens when you have a cool boss.
And Friday is our Christmas party. I bought a gorgeous dress - it's black velvet with see-through black Ren-fest type sleeves. I'm going to the party by myself because I want to be able to enjoy my work friends without having to deal with a date. Everyone else I know is going with a date, but who cares? I just don't feel like it. Dates never have fun and besides...what if there are cute people there and I'm all tied down with a stupid date? Hmm...
