Brick Walls and Math

I've always hated math - mostly because I need an explanation to understand it. Academics have always come (a bit too) easily for me, so math was my one stumbling block, the one subject where I couldn't look at the problem and immediately see the solution ( Read more... )

I had a similar experience with one of my school forays -- it's a very nice feeling to know that given time, you can lope and sprint through 90% of humanity's mathematical legacy because you're just that awesome.

Well, in my case, maybe 50%. Still rad.

I watched "A Beautiful Mind" up at my cabin and again was confronted with the incomprehensability of math. And schizophrenia, for that matter. Meh.

Miss you, Tibnor!!!

You are bright and I only regret not spending more time hanging out with you.

math is also my stumbling block, the impatient, apathetic, and in one case plain assholish teachers, it tok me untill highschool to find one who realized i'm not a numeric learner, and a "good teacher" would ahave recognized that and been able to work around it. i suspect this is the case for you as well.

i was going to put the lyrics to my favorite "math" song here, but every lyrics site is now a clusterfuck of pop-ups and ads; so i'll just give you the name of the song and strongly urge you to find and listen to it

Math does NOT make the world go round. lol I have to believe that, because if it does then I'm going to suck at the world. Can't it be that we invented math to explain the world? I like that more.

:-P
