reaktor

i've started doing some work with reaktor again, and i'm remembering why sort of hate it a little. the problem is, i sort of hate max/msp a little, too. it's definitely much easier to make much nicer looking stuff that's easier to deal with in reaktor, but there's a certain wierdness about how it's all run. the interface between core modules and the rest of reaktor is kinda strange.
all i'm trying to do is make a module that has two buttons on it (not toggles, but simple buttons), that maintains a state (numbered 0-3) which transitions to other states depending on a few simple rules... as in, if button A is hit in state 0 it transitions to state 3, etc. but no... the concept of an 'event' (like a press of a button that isn't a toggle) is all wierd. it seems to prefer to think of everything as a constant stream of values... as in, the button is sending out 0 except when you push it, it sends out 1, as opposed to the button not doing anything when you aren't pushing it, and simply sending out an event when you do. as in a bang in max. a simple fucking bang. why does it hate me?
