What a wild weekend! Friday I got my tux and Cristina got jewlery and we hung out at Amy's for a bit. Saturday was the Bare Hill Regatta. Only Middlesex brought boys other than us. The girls did alright, though I don't think they won any. Our novice boys kicked serious butt. The V2 race, my race, was the most absurdly intense race I have ever been in. Our first three strokes blew huge ass, so Middlesex took off in front of us, but we caught them in our next 15-20 strokes and made a small lead. Our middle attack gave us a little more ground, but not much. I think we're talking a foot here. Christie then called the sprint REALLY early, but it worked out alright because they were gaining on us and we had to bring it up to hold our lead. In the last 15 strokes we were absolutely dead and they were catching up fast but we held them off until the finish and won by a second. I actually thought I was going to throw up for twenty minutes or so.
After I ate a hot dog at the pond, I had to drive home fast so I could shower and make it to some girl's house in Bolton for pre-prom pictures. My mother had picked up the corsage(sp?) which looked good except for this one bright green ribbon on it. Our rides to the prom were not quite as pimp as expected on the exterior, but the interior was nice enough. I was still really tired so I may not have been as social as I ought to have been, but that's alright. We got to Mechanics Hall, which was a pretty nice place to have it. We milled around, talked to people, and the were asked to sit. We ate, which was decent but I really needed it. After I ate I was a lot happier. Then the music started and we danced and danced. I was surprised that Cristina could dance with her hurt ankle, especially wearing heels all night, but she's wonderful so, I should have seen it coming.
After prom, which I decided to drive to rather than take our limo, was at Orchard Hills. I ate even more when I got there, then played a little DDR, watched a hypnotist, who was alright, and tried to sleep. The sleeping was difficult because there was only a hardwood floor, some thin yoga mats, and the pillow I brought. I did manage to nap a bit, but people were also playing with giant exercise balls, which kept me up. There weren't a ton of people there, not as many as I had been expecting, but that didn't bother me because there wasn't a ton of space anyway.
So, after after-prom, I drove home and slept for about an hour and a half before getting up and playing DnD with the kiddo's. I had them write character histories because my goal is to get them more into a role-playing style of play then just straight-up strategy. Next I went home, gathered my ref stuff, and drove to Berlin to ref three games. I had the center for the first, which was a B12. One coach got pissed during the game for no good reason, but I know I called a good game. It was surprisingly aggressive for twelve-year-olds, but it wasn't bad.
Finally I came home, ate some dinner, talked to Cristina, and passed out around 8. Today in school I basically did nothing. Almost every class was a study. Crew was odd because Pat couldn't show. We went out with Fradge in the eight and practiced starts a lot, which started to feel pretty good. I'm a little upset that people are still talking in the boat, but the eight is clicking so... whatevs.
I might be going to the Feist concert in Boston with Ted Gross, which is cool. I really need to find some albums from Twink because they aren't torrentable. They make toy piano music, mostly, which is ridiculously cool. Also, I need to find a torrent for Billy Jonas, mostly so I can learn to play What Kind of Cat Are You? which is an amazing song.
