On this issue, yes. I think he knew how much he didn't need Saul, and how much she needed Saul instead. (And I wanted some backstory behind Bill's canon meeting with Saul telling him to go planetside) I think he wanted the both of them to have what he couldn't, because he had to stay on the ship. But anyone can decide what his motivations were, that's just my take.

Sorry that the Cylons had to come and frak up the A/R!! :)

Thanks for reading. :)

However, I think it says something for a fic to actually have Bill choose to side against Laura in the verbal way that he did. They actually had a lover's fight instead of simply a Admiral/President fight, and the two are vastly different.

Godsdamn stupid toasters.

Welcome! :D

OMG, I realized I was talking about a completely different section of the fic than the one you're referring to! I'm so sorry. It all gets jumbled in my mind. lol. SUCK. Thanks for clarifying.

About Bill siding with Ellen after Laura and he are in bed together... it was an interesting thing for sure, one of those moments where I really feel the character took over while writing the scene. I always think about the end of TMUTMD when Ellen and Bill are in a sort-of hug and it seems very natural for them. I think he has an understanding of Saul and Ellen, having been friends with them for so long, and sees her in part the way Saul does, because he has had to make that leap (kind of like Laura does later).

And Laura was kind of being a bitch so he needed to call her on it. Lover's fight, ftw. :)

I don't know. I don't think that Bill necessarily sees her like Saul as much as tolerates her for Saul's sake. And he's willing to deal with that because it's Ellen, and he can't have Saul without Ellen. Much like Ellen can't have Saul without Bill. It's a love triangle that we can philosophically discuss for ages.

Laura was being a bitch, but in a way too, she wants to know what Ellen's deal is because she is the outsider looking in, in this case. We can either A) take that as her being a bitch or B) her being an outsider or even the classic C) a bit of both. *grins*

Oh, good point on Ellen and Bill and the love triangle! Can I change my answer? lol. It was definitely a love triangle... I think Ellen is pretty clear on that, especially in her first section in the first chapter.

And I think C) is correct... I think, if I were Laura, I'd be feeling the same way. I can see how she'd be intimidated by their history.
