"Well, I'm back" -samwise t.b. gamgee, archetypal loyal retainer extraordinaire

sadly, the ocean is nowhere to be seen outside my window. i can't believe my vacation is over. and my apologies for not sending postcards. i would have, but i had to be practical. knowing me, there is no way they would have actually reached the post office.
but as a future resolution (i know, i'm a little late with new years being a tad far gone) i want to write letters and send mail more often. i know it always makes me happy seeing a crisp white envelope in the mail box with my name on it that isn't the usual junk. so hopefully i will follow through with that.
greeting me when i arrived home today, were not one, but TWO letters from bsc...although they were the same thing. one was addressed to mary rainey and the other to elizabeth rainey. so yeah. evidently i am now two different people. it made me giggle though.
my return to huntsville has been quite pleasant though. i missed everyone so much. i actually spent a good deal of my afternoon reading the great amount of literature found on livejournal that has built up over the past week or so.
and i do have pictures from the beach/lake party last week. though sadly, i failed in my goal of using up all 27 pictures. i'm short about 3. i knew i couldn't do it. once again, i fail in remembering to bring my camera places. grrr. but i think i'm going to take a walk down the street and snap a few photos of the sign in my neighbor's lawn urging all to beware of the thugs and hussies who have been speeding around the neighborhood. i think i need to capture this to show the progression of his insaneness for future laughs. hopefully i won't get shot or anything as i do this. i'll try to be inconspicuous.

i had somewhat of a weird deja vu moment today as we stopped at the same cracker barrel in i believe andalusia coming home from the beach that we stopped at coming to the beach. we were seated at the exact same table and it felt strange. like the past week didn't happen or something.
i went to pizza hut tonight with my family, as there was absolutely nothing worth eating around here. they really have the best pizza crust. i wish i knew their secret. those people are inhuman really. anyways, i had a great time reminiscing about the good old days of TECH ED (all caps mr whitaker? bleh) and other middle school craziness with my sister. oh and we also came to the subject of banana republic t-shirts with the pockets on the front and safari like designs on the back. oh how i do miss those. i think kelly's bike catastrophe jogged my memory of these shirts after i ruined my sister's after having a similar plummet from my not so trusty bike in elementary school. basically the tale ends with a hole in my sister's beloved t-shirt...
also, a great childhood memory filled the evening of coming home from piano lessons one fateful thursday afternoon as a wee child to find that some girl had mistaken the gas pedal of her dad's stationwagon as the break and literally flew across our lawn severing a poor helpless tree in my front yard and barely missing the house. somehow this was funny, although i guess that sounds bad. i think she was learning to drive or something.

and now i can rejoice in the fact that the next time my sister comes to visit us, not only will she bring herself but the cure's greatest hits and a nico t-shirt for me!!! i feel like it's my birthday.
and yes, i have the cure stuck in my head...again. but it's better than hungry eyes, i think we can all agree.
on a side note, i just killed a bug on my computer (wait it still lives..) screen with my bare hands
i feel so accomplished

wow. so i don't think i've ever written an entry this long. or one that makes less sense.
sorry if my extreme rambling had a dozing effect on all of you out there.
and for future reference, i'm planning to be completely useless for the next two or three months...call me please.
and with this i leave you this random quote from my trip:
"well, i guess i gotta go back through that damn cane field again"
