I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted. I'm so lazy.
Well, I'm currently at home (and by home I mean Stephanie's house, which I'm house sitting), waiting for Quinn to get home from his work training, so we can have some lunch and then start designing and authoring DVDs and burning off copies of our latest films.
What ridiculous workplace tells their workers "ok, now you're on holidays", and then tells them to come in for training right in the middle of it (which is unpaid, unless you kick up a fuss). Honestly, what crap. Anyways, enough about how I hate Quinn's job.
I'm working as a waitress, doing mostly private functions etc. Which brings in good money every now and then. Problem is the christmas period is over and there are no more parties to go to for work. So I'm broke. Again. Hopefully some film work will come up. I might have an editing gig for the next few weeks, which will be nice. And the best part is that it's footage that I shot myself, which makes it all that much easier. I'll try to chase up some more corporate work too, as this year I want to be able to make a living from my filmmaking, rather than having the (very crappy and unreliable) "day job".
I have to get another film of my own happening soon, or I feel like my directing skills will rot away and be forgotten by everyone. So I'm also trying to get some scripts written. So far I have two ideas, but I'd like to get some more out. I'm also going to chase up this videoclip that's meant to be happening in February. I'm looking forward to it, because videoclips are short productions, and they really let you get creative. Maybe I'll scout out some more (good) bands and try to get a few music clips done for my showreel. Hmmm.......
I bought a volleyball recently, but they haven't delivered it yet, or charged me for it, so I'm wondering what's going on. I decided to get back into playing.
The Departed is an awesome film. I saw it a few days ago, and really liked it. Great story.
I also really liked The Pursuit of Happiness, Quinn and I saw it two days ago) which was really sad, but moving all the same. I think it was a bit pretentious of Will Smith to have his real son cast in the film in the role of his son. I have a feeling it was a pre-arranged audition skipping. And the kid isn't even all that good. But he doesn't have too many big emotional lines or scenes, so I found I could forgive the ones he does have. He's no child star genius. Maybe a bit too young to take directions and act out the scenes.
Christmas was ok, same as always. I got an apple keyboard from Quinn, a graphics tablet from the parents, which I can't wait to try out once I get back home. New years was a mess. Q and I had this whole arrangement and on new year's eve we had a bit of an argument. By the time we sorted ourselves out, we ended up having dinner at 10:30pm, and then being too late to go anywhere.
So we were home alone drinking for new years, watching TV. The worse part was that Quinn went to the loo and missed the countdown. So I was by myself in front of the TV with a glass of wine going "Five... Four...Three... Two... One....Ummm, Happy....."(looks around, noone in sight) "Sigh..".
So that was different.
