Tonight, movie theaters around the country were showing my absolute all time never to be replaced favorite musical 'Singing In The Rain' on the big screen. Most likely to pimp out the new box set, but because I guess it is the movie's 60th anniversary. When I found out this was going on, I really had no choice, and I knew that no matter what I had to be there. And I was, and it was a thing of beauty. I cried happy tears, applauded every wonderful dance scene and just enjoyed seeing my favorite musical like I never had before. Friends, I'm kinda smitten right now. I absolutely adore old timey movie musicals, and I really do think they've had a huge influence on me both with my love of dancing, and tap dancing. Find this movie. Youtube clips of this movie. Anything! Good night was good.
I also saw the movie 'Magic Mike' recently. I wanted to go see it because my girl crush, Olivia Munn, was in it, and she was lovely indeed. It was interesting to me because the preview made the movie out to be something so totally different then what I think the movie was. The movie was a heck of a lot more artsy then I thought it would be. In the end, surprisingly it did have a really nice storyline, and okay...Channing Tatum is cute. I said it. Good movie really, just not what I was expecting.
On the way home from Paris, I finished the book I had been reading for way WAY too long. It was called 'I Am Not Myself These Days'. The book told the story, and it was actually considered a memoir, of a drag queen in New York City, and the trouble he/she gets into. I wanted to read it because it had been recommended, but also, since getting into 'Drag Race', I thought it would be interesting. And it was! It was funny, sweet, and touching all at the same time. But if you're not a fan of swear words, drug use, or gay sex, probably not a good choice for you. I wish I hadn't taken so long to get to the end of the book, only because I did enjoy it, and the characters in the story. I recommend it if you've liked what I've said.
