Hi there! I'm home, back in Phoenix, and exhausted. Quckie trips are just tiring, but I had a very good time, and so glad I went.
Getting to the airport, my hotel, the club was fairly uneventful. I freaked slightly because my cab was late for picking me up, and because I thought I had been way overcharged on my hotel room. I survived however, and managed to get to the Troubadour even before the doors opened, which I wasn't expecting. Added bonus ftw!
Now the Troubadour is fairly famous in terms of music venues because there have been lots and lots of old timey musicians that have played shows here. So, I think even before I got to California, I was thinking if the show sucks, at least I can say that I've been to the Troubadour to watch a show. Doors didn't open until 8:00 so we're hanging out in the line, and all of a sudden people start freaking out. I have no clue what's happening, I step up onto a higher bit of the sidewalk, turn around and Dominic, plus a few others, at this point I couldn't tell you who, is standing on the corner of the street waiting to cross. It kind of took me a minute to realize it was him, but(and if you'll excuse the fangirl in me) when I saw his profile, and the whispy hair I knew it had to be him. I didn't want to bother him then, because he was just trying to cross the street, so I turn back around, flail for a little while, and finally we are let inside.
Cue a LOT of waiting, and wanting to punch stupid girls for being obnoxious about how they know the band. I'm not trying to be an old lady here, but some people need to learn concert etiquette, because it's not cool to save spots. This isn't first grade. And I totally understand wanting to be at the front of the stage, but if you've been at the show the night before, maybe it would be cool to let someone else be there. Whatever! So, one of the cool things about this show was that this was probably one of the, if not the only time that I would be able to be that close to my favorite drummer without the barrier being in our way, because there wasn't one. There was just the stage, and...there you are. So I was basically one back from the stage.
After a LOT of waiting, and the opening band, who weren't bad, Vicky Cryer finally come on stage. I know they get a lot of slack, but they blew my mind because they sounded SO much better live then they do on their EP. Which sometimes with bands, I think is the opposite. But they sounded SO good. And can I say, Jason who is the lead singer, and the creator of the band, puts on a HELL of a show! They opened with 'Expensive Love', which is my favorite song, and it sounded a little like this.

I knew they would play it, but I'm glad I got to hear it. The only thing I was disappointed about funny enough, has nothing to do with the band, because they were awesome, but is how my camera performed. I bought a new camera on Black Friday, because I wanted to upgrade a little, and I knew, since I enjoy going to live shows, I wanted to be able to take better pictures. But taking pictures was such a pain, and sadly, the great majority of the pictures behind the cut, are blurry! I don't know if this means I'm not using my camera the right way, or that I just need to learn how to use it, but it was honestly a little disappointing. So, if you want to see some pictures of one Dominic Howard, get to clicking.
I've been talking a lot on twitter today, about Dominic's low cut fashion choices, and this is a good example.
Wish this one wasn't blurry
Look at that smile.
Once the really super duper show was over, I thought it was weird that people were still hanging around. Most often at concerts, you're rushed out fairly quickly, but people ere just hanging. I hadn't gone to show with the plan to meet Dom, but if he did happen, I would do it. I go outside, and go out into this dark alley way where the back door of the club is. Roadie type people are going to and out, and I wait for Dominic but...he's not there!? The back door off the Troubadour was open because people were bringing out things, and I look inside, and who should I see?
I ask, as nicely as I could, one of the large muscular security guys, if I can go through the back door, because Dom is standing right there and I didn't want to miss him! Security guard was having NONE of my asking nicely, and so I ran to the end of the alley, back around to the front of the building, and to the spot where Dominic was being surrounded. I don't consider myself pushy, but this was a good exercise in being pushy, because like I said, he was surrounded, and you had to make yourself known. But Dom, at least to myself, and the people that were around who I saw, was polite, willing to talk and sign things, and was very very chill. Since I'm a wimp, but also wanted a good picture, I trusted this all important photo with someone else, and I look like a goof ball, but I'm a happy goof ball!
After fangirling for a few minutes inside the club, because woah that (points above) just happened. I leave the club, and get a taxi back to my hotel, and essentially crash with ringing ears, a tired body, and a very happy heart.
That was a really truly long way of me telling you that I had a great time. I loved getting the chance to meet him, getting a very special chance to hear Vicky Cryer play, and getting to be at the Troubadour. It was a great time all around, and like I said, and I'm very glad I went.
