In which I start making a concerted effort to update again.

I hadn't thought much about Livejournal since my last lame post, but then flatbear added me as a friend and I thought maybe I should actually post here. It's not like I didn't think about it in recent, um, months. I just couldn't be arsed to take the time.

Well, no more of that. I'm going to post again, a couple of times a week. Lord knows I can bullshit enough to keep a blog going. I guess the biggest news is that I got a job, and the second biggest is that I'll no longer have it tomorrow. I got hired as a sales agent for a company called Imrion, which specialises in IT and online services like web design. I got a six week trial run which amounted to a total of zero sales. Can't say I know why I didn't sell anything. I know I don't like cold calling people, so that was a problem. Also, I don't know if it's an Irish thing, but most people rarely seem eager to pay for stuff like website design. Perhaps that's a symptom of the culture we live in. I don't know, I'm not a sociologist. I'm also not a salesman.

Doesn't matter. I'm already applying for more jobs and focusing on writing again. My feature, a year in the writing, is finally nearing the home stretch. I have one more draft to write before I start shopping it around. kiji_kat has been really helpful in providing feedback and support, for which I am eternally grateful. If anyone else would like to see the script and offer some notes, I'd be glad to hear from you.

I started a drawing class a couple of months ago. It specialises in life drawing and, while I still have a long, long way to go, it's helped me get back into sketching. I was very much into my art when I was a kid, but my love for drawing was a bit soured in school. I want to brush up on my skills because I've had this comic book idea running around my head for... well, years, I guess. I want to put together some sketches for it before I start writing a script. Then I figure I can talk to an actual artist once the breakdowns are done. It's something that's ticking along for now - my main focus needs to be on getting the feature completed.

That's pretty much it. Oh, I also bought the new Ted Leo and the Pharmacists record, The Brutalist Bricks. It's oh so very awesome, but then what else would we expect from "the fuckin' Man"?
