When did the ideal vision of beauty change from this:
to this?
Marilyn Monroe - curvaceous, exotic, bubbly, fragile yet strong.
Paris Hilton - selfish stick.
Having read
this blog written by
ultimategirl, I am once again struck down by the shallowness of our society, and in particular, the rampant sexism and misogyny conducted not just by men, but now women too (notice who is defending Jordin Sparks' weight, and who is calling her a fat cow.)
In almost every civilisation bar the modern pigsty masquerading as civilisation, in which we unfortunately live, women with curves were held up as the very definition of beauty. Look at the ancient world and their effigies of the love goddesses, of Mother Earth herself. She had hips; she had breasts; she was a proper woman!
When did we start idolising women with the figures of twelve-year-old boys? If that's the kind of girl you like, then guys - you've got some serious fucking questions to ask yourself.
Women are supposed to have curves. This is a view that stems back to prehistoric days. It showed that a woman was healthy, and therefore would bear healthy children. Paris Hilton will never bear a healthy child (and really, do we want her to?)
Ladies - please eat three square meals a day. Exercise, but only to maintain your health, not to try to lose those twenty pounds that only you and the media see. Take pride in the fact that you have a curvaceous, healthy body. And as Baz Luhrman once put it, "Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly."
This is one man saying I've had enough with stick insects polluting my TV. I would like to see real women again, OK? OK.
