My New Doctor

I went to see my new OBGYN today, and I absolutely love her. She is funny, personable, and gave me the first non-painful Pap smear I've ever had. She also knew about the Errin/PPD connection. I told her I'd stopped taking birth control in January, and told her I'd been on the mini-pill.

"Why were you taking that?" she asked me.
I thought that was an odd question. I said, "For family planning. We wanted to wait before having another baby."
She said, "No, why were you taking that kind of birth control?"
"Because I was breastfeeding," I told her.
Then she said she was surprised I'd been taking it because apparently the connection between Errin and PPD is known. I told her that I hadn't realized I had PPD until 6 months postpartum. What went unsaid was, why wasn't I taken off the mini-pill immediately when I was diagnosed?

That cemented my love for her. That, and the fact that she has fuzzy pink covers on her stirrups.
