Minho had always entertained the thought of living a nice, quiet, comfortable - maybe even traditional - life with his significant other, even though others usually expected him to want something more exciting than that but Minho thought differently, he really liked the idea. Even more so when he witnessed that Jinki wholeheartedly shared his interests.

They had spoken, alone in Jinki's classroom, about where they would go once they were out of school for the summer.

“I didn't think I would do much of anything really,” Jinki had stated as he attempted to balance a pencil on his nose, completely neglecting all the work he had been dead set on doing just a little while ago, “I thought I would just... you know, laze around. Or something, you?”

“Oh, well my family was going to rent this Hanok-” Minho's languid reply was cut off by Jinki suddenly slamming his desk.

“A Hanok!?” Jinki - who no longer had the pencil on his nose and was now standing - exclaimed as though it were the most wonderful thing in the world, “Oh my god- I've always wanted to visit one of those!” Minho stared at the elder, his mouth slightly agape and surprise written all over while Jinki suddenly came back to reality, embarrassed. “W, well... I mean... it's just that...”

“Do you want to come with me, hyung?” Minho had asked, chuckling softly and the way Jinki's face lit up as he nodded like a child had Minho feeling... something. Something he had only ever felt when he was with Jinki. They had talked more and planned their trip after that and eventually Jinki found out that even though the family was renting the Hanok, Minho would basically be the there the most because 'everyone else would be busy'.

Two weeks later they sat on the wooden patio of the traditional house, fanning themselves and complaining about the heat with a plate of peeled oranges between them. Jinki had taken to laying down and staring at the ceiling, spread-eagled on his back while Minho propped himself on his elbows and fixed his gaze intently on the little fountain almost hidden in the plants a few metres away.

“You know,” Jinki started, “I didn't think about the heat when I agreed to come,” he sounded like he was laughing at himself.

“Actually, neither did I.” Minho fanned himself with his open palm a bit more. There was a comfortable lull in the conversation as they both reached for the plate and took a slice of the cut oranges.

“It's still nice,” Jinki commented as he inspected his orange piece. Minho had stopped slurping on the sweet fruit and looked over to Jinki who was grinning at him. Minho wasn't sure if it was because he wanted to share a smile or because he thought Minho looked silly with the fruity orange just hanging from between his teeth. Minho settled on it being the latter reason as he hummed his agreement and continued sucking on the fruit, throwing it away when it was dry.

Minho was reaching for his sixth piece when he realized that Jinki was still staring at him. He stared back but it almost seemed like a lost cause. “Hyung?” No response. “Earth to Jinki hyung?” Nothing. “Jinki!” Minho was becoming a little aggravated. “Have you fallen in love with me or something hyung?” Now, Minho was treading on thin ice because, as much as he had tried to deny it himself, he had fallen for the older boy that was staring at him a few years ago, he had fallen hard.

But Minho had no intentions of doing anything, not if he ran the risk of losing Jinki.

“Do you think I'm weird?” Jinki asked. The sudden question caught Minho off guard though.

“Why would you be weird?”

“I mean... well, do I make you uncomfortable or something?”

Minho just looked at Jinki, he didn't like where this near one-sided conversation seemed to be going. Where were these questions suddenly coming from? Jinki is a little different, yes, but Minho was fine with that, he thought it was cute.

“Do you dislike me?”

“That's not true.” What wasn't true, Minho didn't know but it sounded like Jinki was implying that Minho didn't like him. “Why would you ask that?”

“Well-”

“If I didn't like you, I wouldn't be spending time with you like this.”

“You seem to have more fun spending time with other people more than you do with me,” Jinki was standing in front of Minho now and he looked more annoyed than hurt but the pain was still there. “You talk with them a lot more.”

“Do you want to know what I talk about with them?” Minho stood up and as he looked down at the elder he tried to remain serious, he saw where this was going and better yet, he saw where he could take this. Jinki was getting jealous and this was an opportunity for Minho to basically make Jinki his own.

“Oh? Enlighten me,” the honey eyed boy replied dryly.

“You.” Minho smirked before he hugged the elder. Jinki went rigid in his arms but the lanky boy paid no attention to that. “How funny you are, how kind you are, if I could ever get you to like me...” Minho paused, should he leave it at that? Would he be rejected? He didn't know, so he joked, “... As much as you like chicken.”

Jinki remained silent for a while - seconds? Minutes? Did it really matter? As far as Minho was concerned, it was too long - as if he were contemplating something. Minho was beginning to worry that he had slipped up and ruined their friendship but then the shorter boy chuckled.

“You really are an alien.” Minho pulled back to find Jinki grinning up at him, his chubby cheeks tinted pink and he couldn't help but grin at his hyung. They stood there just looking at each other for a while.

“Uh... could you maybe... um...” Jinki was doing that hesitating thing he had been doing for a while and Minho was beginning to wonder it it was some kind of condition the other had contracted.

“You want me to let you go?” Minho asked as he began to pull away but was stopped as Jinki shook his head and bowed his arms around the younger's neck. Minho noticed Jinki was still holding his piece of the orange fruit.

“No, I was just wondering, if... you could give me a kiss? If you don't mind because I don't, it could be anywhere-” and Minho had obviously decided that Jinki had blabbed enough when he placed his lips full on the elder's surprised pair. Jinki eventually melted into the kiss and Minho pulled away far too soon in his opinion.

Minho grinned at him and he pressed their foreheads together, their noses brushing, “I've wanted to do that for so long... how was it?”

Jinki smiled mischievously, “I dunno, it wasn't long enough, maybe you should do it again.” Minho simply chuckled in response and kissed his forehead.

“Honestly, how was it?”

“It was obviously nice, let's do it again sometime!” Jinki winked, took a bite of the fruit he was holding and he blushed in spite of his eagerness.

“Sure,” Minho grinned, taking a bite of the fruit, “sometime.”

To say that anything had changed would have been a lie because as soon they returned to their seats on the patio they continued eating oranges and complaining about the heat. Minho thought one, minute detail changed though; he was enjoying it all so much more. Ever since, it's become almost like a religion for them to spend their summer at the Hanok Minho's parents would rent. They would sit around, complain about the heat, kiss, eat oranges and just enjoy each other's company and Minho's glad because he has always enjoyed it.

Minho still entertains the thought of living a relaxed life with his significant other, with Jinki.
