so, one of the things i have to do as apart of my job is sell people things- my boss (the republican one who said the word 'nigger') sells people things they clearly do not need and in amounts they could not possibly use. for example, and bear with me on this, we carry a few lines of hair products (kerastase, bumble and bumble, aquage, whatever) and if we are out of a particular product, she will sell them another that she claims is a 'substitute' but really is not QUITE what they need. she also tries to up sell them to the kerastase line (which is way more money and SOME of the products are really worth the price). but it makes me sick.
if people ask me what they should use, i have no problem with suggesting what they should get- if we're out of it, i let them know and if they go for an item that really sucks- i say " you know, ive found this isnt the best product of this line..." and suggest something different. i would want somebody to do this for me. most of the time, they still buy things but it saves them from hating the product and never trusting me again!
i really like the aspect of helping people (if they want it) with their hair and products they want, but it makes me so sick to hear my boss sell people things they dont need or stuff that DOESNT work just because the people are THAT stupid (aka one of our lines has pills that claim to make your hair grow- if you look at the ingredients- its green tea and grapeseed extract).
i dont know- i dont like the idea of somebody, say, at sephora doing this to me, but i wonder how many times ive been totally had by somebody like my boss who jsut sells me stuff because she wants to make money or will lie to me and sell me something not QUITE right just because the right one is out of stock. w/e.
