Geekery on numerous levels

Since Borders is closing down, I just raided the nearby store. Spent $105 on 14 books, a mixture of Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Note to self, cashier recommended Clive Barker as a similar author. Damn but do I have no idea where these will fit on my bookshelf. XD ( Read more... )

Best comparison I can make is to an audiobook, but instead of a book "script" being read, it has characters speaking and (sometimes) sound effects and such, so in that way it's sort of like a movie that you listen to instead of watching.

I don't understand nearly enough Japanese to follow what's going on coherently, but it's spiffy for hearing more of my favorite seiyuu's voices. :B

While I've never read Koontz, I agree with your cashier. Clive Barker is lovely, even if he's not as much of a literary ham as King is. Trivia time: Hellraiser (the movie) is based off one of Barker's short stories: "The Hellbound Heart."

He also started a sort of horror-fantasy series called Abarat, which is a little lighter but still surrealistically creepy. Haven't seen much of it in a while though. But I'm rambling so I LEAVE NOW 8D

Hahaaaa, hi there, and yes! I am very extremely new to the world of drama CDs, and I don't really understand the language outside of the very basics, but I still love listening to pretty voices! <3 My collection currently includes a lot of Starry☆Sky dramas, and all the current KISSxKISS Collections volumes. X3

The KISSxKISS volumes are a guilty pleasure of mine. XD Even if I can only get a basic idea of what each scenario is about, oh, the voices and kisses just make me melt. <3 Also, I totally just realized that your LJ is one of a few that I managed to Google while looking for drama CD info! XD Can I friend you?

Seiyuu are so definitely magical. Souichirou Hoshi is my favorite, but I also squeal for Akira Ishida, Toshihiko Seki, Tomokazu Sugita, and Kenichi Suzumura. :B
