Today was a very lucky day.
It started off slow, I really, really didn't want to go to the Bargain shop today, but they needed me, since I'm one of a few people who can work the register. I'm not a people person, see, I really don't like interacting with customers especially since, being a second hand store, you get some really, really weird and fucked up people walking in the door.
In any case, I walk in the door and spot in a bag of toys, exactly one half of a G1 Starscream. He's missing his wings and hand/missles and his stickers are badly abused, but I didn't care. It's rare for any second hand transformer toys to come in, much less G1 toys. Apparently there had been alot of Transformer toys come in last week and a regular, David (he's 47 and has some sort of mental disability, but he's an awesome guy, good for a long talk about transformers. I've seen pictures of his collection... it's massive. He has 2 Unicrons, one with all the mini-cons, and a second from the salvo's store I used to volunteer at in Coolangatta.) sat on the floor like a kid and sorted through them all taking the ones he wanted. I did find a Slag too, but I'm pretty sure he was a fake, since he didn't even have the right symbol on him. Just checking the transformer-wiki, it looks like he's actually a Gen 2, in the common dark green. I'll have to wait til monday to go get him. Dun know why though, I have no where to put him. >>
I go out the back for morning tea and the boss, Malcolm randomly gives me a Logitech surround sound system connected to a PS2. Literally gives it to me. I check it over, the PS2 is in good condition, though it doesn't have a power cable or memory card. I figure the card's easy enough to come by, Our Harvey Norman still sells them. And the power cable's a standard 240 volt figure of eight plug and those you can buy as well. I decide to take it home. The PS2 may not work, but the surround sound system had already been tested to work, so there was that, saves me spending money on a surround sound system when I move out.
So I get it home and dad says he's got a random 240 volf figure of eight cable about, gives it to me and we go set the thing up. and Voila! I got a free working PS2! I have no game or memory card, but hey, the slimline PS2 is still $99 at K-mart. Saved myself $99.
Better yet, a good friend is going to japan for god knows how long and he's offered to loan me his FF games and memory cards. Sweet. I hope I can borrow his kingdom hearts games too, I only got halfway through KH2 when I had to move down here, so I'd love to finish it and start KH as well.
Mum's kinda unsure about it cause Dad wants to see if he can buy any of the Command and Conquer series for it. If he can, I'll never get to use it...
And I have new glasses. They're stronger, heckuva lot stronger and I haven't had to adjust to new glasses in 5 years to I have one massive adjustment headache. silly thing is, it's the middle distance that warps and moves, not my short or long distance. Bah, i hope I get used to them soon... taking this much panadol isn't good for me...
To quote Blitzwing: "Teh dizzy, I am not liking teh dizzy..."
Edit: I now has memory card and a game. Memory card was $27, but I did go out and buy a proper sony card, not one of the cheapies from K-mart. And I picked up a second hand game... Battlestar Galactica. looks like a game simmilar to the star wars flight sim type games, so I might be able to do it well. ><
