Homo Depot
This has seriously been the week of the Home Depot. Last Wednesday (the 1st) was my Mom's birthday. So my sister and I, at a last minute suggestion from me, got her 2 apple trees. She now has a Granny Smith and a Jonathan. You need to have two to cross pollinate, and hopefully, no one will judge their very May/December romance.
We also got her a card. She turned 58, so my sister was leaning towards the "60 looks great on you!", but I was not sure. It's a real hit or miss kind of thing. Then we found the golden card. You have to realize that my Dad has chronic butt problems, with his diverticulitis and bleeding hemorrhoid. On the front it says, "For your birthday, I wanted to give you the Sun and the Stars" and on the inside, when you open the card it's a man pulling down his pants and it says, "But I decided to just give you the Moon!" I added a little speech bubble that says, "Elaine, I need some more Preparation H!!!" It's kind of funny that we're all in such a serious position, and yet, we're all joking about it.
She liked the card, in kind of that naughty way that she and my grandmother both have, but we had to hide it from him.
Also, my mom bought lots of plants this weekend. One was a geranium that is white, but has all this browning on the petals, so it has a serious smoking problem. I was given the privilege to name the African Violets, so I chose Kamika, LaKwonda and Momo. Yes Momo, I named one of them after you.
Finally, I've started painting my living room. The color is "Cranberry Splash" and my living room is starting to look like a Starbucks. Come on over. I'll give you crappy ass coffee and charge you $5 for it!!!
