okay, so i was bored yesterday, so i went on wikipedia and looked up AP tests because i was curious to see what kind of info they had. they basically had a site for each one, and on each site, they listed the percentage of students who got a certain score on the test last year. i looked up AP calc, figuring that i knew the percentage of kids who got a five (1% lol). but it wasn't a 1%. it wasn't a 10%. it wasn't even 25%. it was 41.9%. how...the hell...does that work? almost half of the students that take the AP calc BC test get a five. that's insane. and then another 20% get a four, so apparently, you are much more likely to pass the test than to fail it. don't i feel stupid...oh, and the percentage of people that get a five on the BC test is significantly higher than the percentage of people that get a five on the AB test. and it gets better. i looked up the percentage of people who get a five on the AP lit test...7%. that's it. that's one of the lowest percentages of any test i looked at, even lower than physics and latin...so now we can't even claim that the reason we all failed was mahler's horrible teaching. apparently nobody can do well on the stupid test.
and then i went out last night on operation "set up jordan and lauren". oh, that was entertaining. first off, jordan kept getting stuck in traffic so he got there a half hour late...that should have been a bad omen to begin with. then jordan, lauren, and i went out to dinner. lauren seemed to be incredibly distracted...she kept checking her cell phone, and i'm pretty sure she was texting. i got a pretty bad vibe off of dinner itself. jordan was trying, but lauren didn't seem to be very interested. but when we went to gameworks, it seemed like she loosened up, and i thought that things might actually work out between them. and then she informed me that she had invited her friend, sean, to hang out with us too. technically, that was okay, because we were hanging out in a group, and it wasn't really a "date", persay, but as soon as he got there, that was the end for jordan. it was sadly ironic that i invited people to come with me so that i wouldn't be the third wheel, and jordan actually ended up becoming the fifth wheel. he kind of alternated between hanging out with me and john and with lauren and sean. finally, i got sick of the whole situation, and john and i decided to leave and get coffee, and sean and lauren went shopping...i don't really know what jordan ended up doing. unfortunately, i was left with the task of informing him that lauren wasn't interested because somehow, he didn't pick up on it. come on...she invited another guy to hang out with her when she just met you, i figure that would be a big enough sign. but now he's depressed about it, which i don't blame him for...i really shouldn't have set them up in the first place. they probably would have been good friends, but in the end, i think lauren wants somebody that is a little rougher around the edges, and jordan isn't that guy...
john and i had a lot of fun at coffee...probably more fun than we had at gameworks, because we got to talk, instead of just participating in parallel play. this is selfish of me, but i hope he gets into U of M and he goes there. he's been a really good friend to me.
oh, and i guess i'm tagging along with john and sharkey when they go to visit U of M over spring break. it's gonna be interesting :)
