[adjusted] - It's Gonna Be Alright

She woke up again still feeling groggy. She groaned and shifted slightly. Her side hurt. Blinking her eyes open she was immediately looking up at Bruce and Lloyd. They stood over her with expectant faces. She let out a louder groan.

"God, what?"

"How are you feeling, 99?" Bruce asked.

"Like shit," she said dryly. And her throat was sore. She started to lean up to find some water, but it hurt too much so she lay back down.

"What do you need?" Lloyd asked.

"Water."

The boys fumbled and wrestled to get her cup of water with a straw. Bruce succeeded and held it near her mouth. She rolled her eyes but sipped from the straw. When she had enough she pushed the cup away. She lay back and closed her eyes.

She was in a hospital in D.C. and for whatever reason, Bruce and Lloyd had found it their responsibility to look after her. She hardly remembered anything from the past couple weeks. She remembered being on the job. She remembered her partner being shot. Then things went fuzzy. When she was finally awake and functioning just days ago, she found out that she had been shot. Thankfully the bullet managed to miss major arteries, and after a very long couple surgeries she was okay. She then slept for about a week in the Italy hospital before being flown to D.C. when she was stable enough. She woke up a couple days after.

And she was still sore. And they weren't letting her leave. And she was ready to kill Bruce and Lloyd. Thankfully Max had been in to see her that morning. Apparently he had just found out what happened. The Chief was making visits as well. Another agent was dressed in scrubs and keeping an eye on things around her floor, just in case anyone came in to finish the job. But in the end, she was just Helen Harper, caught in a very awkward situation on a vacation to Italy.

The boys were arguing.

"No, let me do it."

"No! I have it. Stop."

Hands were near her head, pulling at her pillows. Her bed was starting to move. "Stop!" She shouted, at least the best she could. They froze. Bruce was trying to fluff her pillow and Lloyd had the bed remote in his hand, attempting to adjust her bed. "Stop," she whispered, glaring at them.

"We want you to be comfortable," Lloyd said with big eyes.

"Leave the bed alone. Leave my pillows alone. Sit down. Shut up."

They quickly nodded and did as they were told, plopping down in the chairs on the side of her hospital room. She sighed and closed her eyes at the welcome silence. A smile came to her lips when the nurse stepped in to adjust the pain meds flowing into her IV. Yep...just what she needed.
