Had it been hours? days? She wasn't sure anymore and the officer that was escorting her didn't seem to be too interested in her. Vaguely she wondered what aspect would she have after walking aimlessly through the hostile streets of a crammed city, with no clue as to what was happening now. Her only try to approach someone for information had ended in a hard knee inside her ribs, and by the time she had awokened again she was inside a car, heading to the city hall.

She remembered an officer cleaning and bandaging her face, muttering something about racism and beating a young girl, but looking slightly scared at her scarlet eyes and sky-blue hair. After that she had been sent to a seemingly eternal line, with an equally eternal number scribbled on a piece of paper. Then it all became diffuse as her memories digressed between sleep, food, sleep and some atrocious dream which she coudn't remember exactly, but that included her EVA.

Finally, the officer delivered her to a small desk behind a bunch of other desks and cubicles. Stiffly she was ordered to sit and wait, as the man behind the white plastic computer finished typing and focused his dull eyes on her, making her feel unconfortable and unwelcomed.

"Thankyou" she muttered, holding on to the folded fabric of the blanket on her lap. "My name is Ayanami Rei."

The case worker smiled softly, and bowed his head gently. This name he was familiar with. Japanese, this girl was, even if she didn't look it.

"I see, Ayanami-san. And how old are you? What year of school are you in? Your native language is Japanese, correct?"

Slight build, Japanese school uniform on. Shocking colored eyes and hair, but it might have been dye and contacts. Still, she seemed very meek, so it was unlikely. It wouldn't be the first time that this man had seen strange hair and eye colors.

She hesitated slightly, thinking back on her reflection in front of the darkened bookstore, after she had woken but before she'd been beatened. Although she was wearing her highschool uniform, she didn't look like 14 anymore but didn't know how much time had passed between her last memories and now.

"Last thing I remember, I was fourteen. My school education went up to second year of secondary school and Japanese is my native language. I've lived in Japan all my life."

The case worker noted all of this information down in the computer. "Fourteen. So you should be in your third year of junior high. When is your birthday?"

It was interesting that she hadn't even started her third year of junior high yet, and yet was fourteen. More questioning was definitely needed here.

Rei felt slightly foolish, being told what year of school she was supposed to be in. Truth was, she'd never really cared much about classes, friends or life outside Nerv. She was born to pilot Eva, and that was all there was in her life.

"I'm afraid I can't answer that question" her voice was slightly lower than before, though confident. It was an answer she'd memorized ever since she was a child, and that she gave out constantly in school. "I was born during a year of great catastrophes that took the lives of many around the world. My birth information was lost during this events, all I know is that my year of birth is 2004."

[OOC: Rei's age is unknown, but she doesn't look 14 anymore. Her approximate age is about 19. Oh yeah and Hi mod! pleasure to meet you! ^^ ]

The case worker tilted his head to the side and frowned deeply. "What year do you last remember. Here, it is 2004 right now. Also, if you could loosely explain the catastrophes you just mentioned, that would be great."

He'd have to assign her a birthday. He was an overall nice guy, felt sorry for these people who'd come out of nowhere into a country as...well, tough as Japan. "What birthday would you like? You can have any one you want."

[The case worker will write down whatever Rei tells him. :P]

Suddenly, Rei realized something "I'm sorry. It's all been so confusing. The year I was born was 2000. I think that here I'd be 4 years old. The last year I remember is 2014, but it's not clear in my head." She was getting drowsy and that wasn't good, she didn't want to give incorrect data to the man, despite her not knowing half of what had happened.

Once again, her hands curved around the blanket. "Of course. on the 13th of September of the year 2000 an asteroid of enormous proportions collided against the south hemisphere of earth, somewhere in the south pole. This event has been denominated as the second impact. The first impact was the one that caused the extinction of dinosaurs.

The immediate reaction to this event was the melting of the poles and the alteration of the earth's axis. The oceans rised due to the exceeding water and entire cities disappeared. There was a violent climatic changed which destroyed crops and lead to the extinction of many species. During this events, half of the human population perished."

Rei fell silent, staring at her unnaturally longer hands. It was all lies, everything. But she coudn't explain that humans had provoked the second impact by awakening Adam. So she recited what she had learned over and over again in school, hoping it would help.

"I don't really mind not having a birthday, but I'd like to change my age, since I don't think I'm fourteen anymore." she pursed her lips, waiting for a positive answer to her petition.

Normally once the age had gone into the computer, that was it. But, Rei was lucky enough to have someone who sympathized with her situation, and, who thought she was incredibly cute (even if she didn't have the typical Japanese look). It was probably the way she acted so...utterly Japanese. Quiet. Polite. As if she would cook your dinner, pour your drink, get your slippers, feed your dog, and shit, swallow your cum too. Girls nowadays were getting uppity. Not good wives. Lucky man whoever got this one. Lucky man.

"Well, how old do you think you are? And let's give you a nice spring birthday? How's May 18th sound?"

Once again, Rei thought about her answer. She had only seen her reflection briefly on that glass but she was sure she still wasn't overage. Impossible.

"Maybe...19? Please?"

The mention of a spring birthday made her blush slightly. "If you think it would suit me..." she stammered, smiling shyly at the man behind the desk. This was the first time she'd ever recieved a birth date, of course. It was something insignificant, pure data only. However, for her, it felt strangely warm.

"Excuse me, in my world I worked for a military facility under the control of the United Nations called Nerv, is this organization in existance on this world too?"
