Year in fanfic review meme (stolen from itinerant_vae and fandom_me)

Favorite story this year: Five(ish) Times the Doctor Went Back For Jack. Because they were great fun to write, and as you can see, I found it difficult to stop. I still have a couple of ideas for future ones, which I might get written once we've seen the new canon. (Jack/Nine, Jack/Ten, ranging from G to Adult)

My best story this year: Basic Physics. It came out absolutely identical to the story-shape I had in my head before I wrote it. And, as a writer, that's the best I can hope for. (Ten/Simm!Master, R)

Most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: The twin-stories Too Much and Not Enough. But I only really think this because they took about four months to write. They got, I think, all the attention they deserved in the end. (Five/Jack, PG (Too Much), R (Not Enough))

Most fun story: The Library of Stray Books. It's playful, uncomplicated sex. Jack wearing Nine's leather jacket got stuck in my head for a while, so I turned it into this story. It was a bit tough to write, but in the end it turned out okay. (Nine/Jack, adult)

Sexiest story: Surrender. No sex, just a kiss, but I think I captured something between Ten and Jack here. Should have been longer, if my attention span hadn't dried up, but it works as it is. (Ten/Jack, PG)

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Experiment. Completely the fault of other people. (Jack/Owen/Janet/Hand, PG)

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Thank You. I finally got a grip on Owen's character, and worked out a little bit of why I ship him with Jack. I really need to see more interaction between the two of them, but this is my Torchwood ship. For now. (Jack/Owen, adult)

Hardest story to write: Difficulties on Theory. This took absolutely ages to write, and every sentence was agonising. But. Looking back now, it's one of my better fics, and I'm proud of it. it wasn't terribly popular with the masses, but it's one I'm not ashamed to go back and read. (Ten/Simm!Master, adult)

Biggest disappointment: 'Doctor Mirabilis', for which you do not get a link. It started off all well and good, and then... I lost track of where I was going, I made a couple of stupid mistakes, and I am never, ever, posting work in progress again.

Biggest surprise: Just Four Words. An idea that came from just about nowhere and had to be written, however not in the mood I was. (Torchwood!Jack/real!Jack, G)

Most telling story: Irony. A damned unsubtle hint that I might have a slowly-developing D/s kink. Er. I don't have any other particularly telling stories. At least, not that I've noticed. (Jack/Master, Adult)

A story I want remembered: I'm going to steal Becky's answer. I want the Jack/Himself fest remembered as the time when we rallied round, and we defended - not just one person - but the freedom of speech of fandom as a whole. This is the wrath of fandom threatened. And some bloody good fic and art.

Not doing a December round-up, because it would be fairly pointless. I wrote hardly anything last month, which those of you on my personal journal flist will hopefully understand.

Here's hoping 2008 brings us lots of shiny new canon to work with!
