Just a little ficette from the depths of my exhausted brain.

Title: Just Four Words

Pairing: Jack/the real Captain Jack
Summary: A kind of missing scene from the episode Captain Jack Harkness. Jack knows the test of real power is knowing when not to use it.

With everything that is to come... )

WOW! You could launch a whole AU right there. I'm still concerned about what ramifications the whole dancing/kissing had in the death of CJH. I have serious doubts about that whole "surprised by Germans during training exercise" thing. Anyway this is beautiful and I could so imagine Jack thinking about it this way.

I have really no idea how anyone back then would actually have reacted to two men kissing so blatantly in public, but fuck. I hadn't thought about it like that. Ouch.

But yeah. Glad you liked this! Thank you for reading.

Someone wrote up a whole dissertation after it aired that we were reading more into the dance/kiss than people would have at the time. They had footnotes and everything referencing data and books of the era

That's interesting. Any idea where it was posted? I'd love to know the actual facts from that time.

I really don't remember, probably on torch_wood. the gist was that it was much more open than we tend to think it was

Thank you! That second one raises a very good point... they needed all the men they could get, I doubt they would care if he was gay.
