I know I have no room to say anything really. I'm a huge proponent of not pissing on about how your free lunch doesn't completely satisfy your hunger. You have a free lunch, shut up and grab a Snickers.
I telecommute 3 days a week, and work 7ish hours a day the two days a week I'm in the office. I get to spend a lot of time working from the comfort of my home. Before that, I had a job where I had to work 7ish hours a day 4 or 5 days a week. Before THAT I had a real job. It isn't like I don't know what it is like to work 9 or more hours a day 6 days a week for a boss who doesn't give a crap and will just fire you if you don't show up.
I'm not trying to sound ungrateful... but... a major drawback of telecommuting is that on the couple days a week I'm actually IN the office, a little after lunch when my productivity flags and I'm mostly just here shuffling papers and trying to take small bites out of giant problems, I really start to miss my
xray_spex.
It isn't anything she would do or anything, I just miss having her nearby.
