Ghost glances over his shoulder. "Freak," he says with a nod. "How have you been, sister?"
"As well as can be expected," Freak replies, leaning over the screen to watch the players stare at each other in mostly-silence. "Mother's been making her rounds again. We might have a new sister soon."
"About damn time," Switch says in consternation. "Maybe she can do something about these players. I think I could fucking kill them all."
Ghost's lips quirk up. "Even the ones you so painstakingly modified?"
"I don't keep pets, unlike you." Switch glares first at Ghost, then at the screen. "They'd be boring pets, anyway. The hell are they all doing?"
"Doing their level best to ignore each other, I imagine," Freak says lightly. "Perhaps you should have gone with the cabin in the woods again. Fosters more paranoia."
"I don't see how being stuck in a cabin is any scarier than being stuck in a video game," Switch says, annoyed.
Ghost tilts his head, observing. "It's been a while since any of us were human, darling."
"Whatever. And don't call me that."
"Why do I get the peculiar feeling that we've had this argument before."
"Because we have. A million times."
"Hmm. Four hundred and sixty-three, to be precise."
Switch resists the urge to facepalm. "Do you try to be this obnoxious, or are just that way naturally?"
"What do you think?" Ghost smiles. "You've known me for fifty years."
"I could know you for five hundred and I don't think I could figure you out," Switch grumbles.
"I have known him for five hundred years," Freak says, petting Ghost on the head affectionately. "He's just a big puppy. A big, sadistic, obnoxious, bloodthirsty puppy."
Ghost quirks an eyebrow. "Woof?"
Freak smiles. Switch headdesks. The players fail at life, except for Maddy and Shabz, who are awesome.
