Yeah, I've been seriously lax at updating this thing, but rest assured I have been lurking from time to time.
I figured 6-6-06 was as good a time as any to update.
Lots of people around me have been hit with good fortune lately. Attribute it to the devil, astrology, skill, or just co-incidence, I couldn't tell you the source, but I can tell you there has been a lot of great things happening. Cosmic forces of unparalleled magnitude are aligning to form a great happy-face in the sky... look for it, it's there!
- Chanilye got her new job at Seneca@York in Reference - Yay!
- We acquired about 50 new clients (will explain later)
- My father got a raise
- My sister moved into a new house and made a killing on her sale
- Tom who lives in D.C. got a promotion
- Chris who lives in Ottawa got a promotion to full time
- Bryan and Shannon will be moving to Hong Kong at the end of the summer
- Colin in Seattle got a job at MS
So yeah, lots of good stuff happening as of late. We acquired our clients rather unfortunately however. A web host in Arizona died suddenly because
his cancer (which was supposedly in remission) came back. The entire
business was left in his wife's (and my association a good friend's)
hands. It's been a couple of weeks now, but needless to say the wife
wasn't really capable of server administration, nor with dealing with
these clients. A business partner with whom we buy server space from
recommended us to the wife. We are just in the process of transferring
these clients to our servers. So yeah, good news for the business, but
under really unfortunate circumstances.
It also just passed by the 2 year mark since I lost my cousin to cancer. I try to support cancer research as much as I can, but here is a little way that everyone can help (and it's free). So, if you have a little extra computing power please don't hesitate to sign up to the
Grid Network, which was developed by
United Devices. It's a very small (but direct) way to contribute to cancer research - ahh the power of distributed computing!
Um, let's see what else is relatively new? Mum will be coming home for the summer as it is about 40 degrees Celsius and will get hotter in Dubai. Not neccessarily looking forward to that, but we'll see.
I did manage to put up most of our photos from
the Dubai / Kenya trip, so browse at your leisure. No real summary or captions on the photos as of yet, but rest assured I will get to them some day... LOL
Our first Dragonboat Race is coming up
this Sunday in Mississauga, come out if you want to cheer us on... hehe.
I will leave you with
a funny (yet stupid) image a friend sent me today. Made me laugh though...
