What's better than a pie shop? A pie shop that Dean has all to himself. Okay mostly because it's haunted but Dean dealt with that ages ago. Now, with the keys to the place shoved in his back pocket, and his promise to tell the owner when they can come back, Dean only has one thing in mind ( Read more... )

Castiel had been busy with heavenly manners and as unlikely as it was for him to set it aside, he did. Dean had been good lately so he assumed he owed the hunter at least his appearance. If the matter was too trivial for him to deal with, he would simply offer a few words of wisdom before taking his leave again.

There was a sound of wings and Castiel was now standing in the shop.

"Yes Dean?"

He drags his gaze over the angel, taking him in, checking for any differences that might have occured, looking for wounds. It's something he doesn't even think about, natural like breathing, and once he's satisfied he grins, just the slightest upturn of his mouth.

"Got a surprise for you, can y'stick around?"

Sometimes there are wounds that the eye can miss, though Cas probably isn't aware they exist for him. Stubborn until the end, a trait he picked up from these two.

"What is it?" It was a simple question but the implied curiosity meant he would stick around long enough to see what Dean was so eager about.

"Pie," he grins, and it's a little bit like a kid being proud of a project the way he says it, wanting to share, aiming to please, "We've got the place to ourselves 'cause I helped the owner out. If y'can stay I can introduce y'to the wonders."

"The wonders of... pie," Cas said slowly, almost as if he were digesting the idea, "..I can stay but I don't have a reason to consume anything."

"Who says you need to have a reason to injest anything, huh?"

He doesn't stop smiling though, just grins and motions for Cas to come a little closer, "Take off your coat man, it'll be more comfy."

There was a pause, trying to come up with a response to Dean's rhetorical question but deciding instead to remove his coat as instructed, sitting down in the nearest open seat.

"Did you want company?" Because if he did, Cas didn't quite understand why Dean wouldn't have just gotten Sam to join him instead.

"Well, I wanted your company Cas, but if you've got somewhere else to be, don't let me stop you," he informs him, hovering slightly like he's not quite sure this was the best idea anymore.

He stills, coming to the understanding that Dean meant specifically what he said, and settled, "Sorry, it's no problem. I would enjoy eating some pie with you."

Dean grins, goes back to the counter but still talks to Cas as he's cutting a slice, getting it ready. "Okay so, we're starting off traditional. Apple pie, 'cause this is America and it's just a thing, like a pie your mom bakes or something."

"American mothers bake apple pie traditionally," nodding along and repeating it for his own understanding. He hoped the flavors were a combination that would appeal to Jimmy's pallet.

"That's why people say it's never as good as their mom bakes 'em," Dean points out, coming back with a plate and a fork. He doesn't take the opposite side of the booth, not this time, just motions for Cas to budge up, "I don't think the dude that made this is a mom but we'll pretend."

There's a nod from the angel as he eyes the plate carefully before moving over to allow Dean some room, "It would be difficult for one without a mother to know." After all, Cas was carefully crafted by his Father's hand and nothing more.

Dean sits beside him, invading his space like it's as natural as breathing, placing the plate down on the table.

"My mom made badass pies, her favourite was cherry so I always had a sweet tooth," he tells him, cutting off a piece on the fork and then lifting it up, something like a wicked grin on his face because he intends to do this the right way, "Open up."

Castiel wasn't expecting Dean to be the one feeding him, but he complied with the effort none the less. Angel mouth was now open and ready for the feeding, listening intently and watching each of Dean's movements with a curiosity few could label.

"Now chew," he informs him, removing the fork and tapping the desk in a rhythm. He knows Cas can but he's enjoying the feeling of being close, sharing something with him, pressed against his side like it's natural.
