yo.
went to dallas on thursday to meet with the ikeda's stateside people to work out the terms of my japan trip. here's the lowdown:
i leave june 30th and begin teaching the following monday. i work 3-4 hours a day(probably 10-2, they'll feed me lunch every day).
they're putting me up in a hotel.
i'm getting $2,000 per week and a small bi-weekly stipend for food.
they're buying me a cell phone.
they're getting me a gym membership.
we'll spend 1.5 weeks in niigata for the oban festival and i'll get to be naked in the hot springs with a ton of old japanese men and stay in the family house with the grandparents, mr. and mrs. ikeda and all three ikeda girls.
i'm done teaching on august 8th.
i'll be in hong kong for a week, staying with people at the honk kong international school and trying to get them to hire me.
i'll be in shanghai for a week.
maybe i'll be in bangkok for a week, too.
then i'll go back to tokyo and return on september 1st.
also, in dallas they put me up in a suite in the melrose hotel and took me to dinner at the mansion at turtle creek. that's the nicest restaurant in dallas. i ate a $200 meal. $25 bbq oysters, a $60 steak etc. 2 $300 bottles of wine. i'm supposed to learn a lot about wine before i get to tokyo because mr. ikeda has the second largest wine collection in the world. something like 30,000 bottles.
also, the japanese couple who picked me up and took me to dinner pulled up in an escalade on 22 in. rims. maybe bigger. they're in their seventies. it was a bit odd.
let's chill before i leave.
i quit work on may 6th, finish the movie in mexico city from the 10th to the 17th, then go to l.a. to watch jesus fight from the 27th through the 3 or 4th. also to visit wesley while i'm in california. other than that, i want to say goodbye to everyone so. . .yes. . .let's do that.
