A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet

Prom night was good fun. As with any good prom night, prom accounted for maybe 10% of the overall experience. I surprised Krista by taking her to the Dallas Museum of Art. We checked out the Forbidden City exhibit they had, which was comprised of a lot of art and artifacts from 18th century China. Lots of beautiful things, but Krista by far outshone everything. A lot of other people besides myself had that opinion: A staff member for the DMA came up to Krista and said "I'm sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to tell you that you're just as beautiful as the things you're looking at." Poor girl nearly swallowed her tongue out of shock and embarassment. I can't take her anywhere; I always end up the guy they say "You don't look bad either" to. I can live with that though. I got me a pretty girl. =P

After the DMA, we checked into the Magnolia hotel, where we were staying because A. We both knew we were going to be way too tired to drive home from downtown Dallas at the end of the night and B. we wanted to spend the whole day and night together. The hotel itself was great. The building was built in 1922 as the headquarters of Magnolia Oil (now known as Mobil Oil). In its day, it was the tallest building in the South (it clocks in at about 27 stories) and was also the first building in the entire United States to have a little something called air conditioning. Cool, no? The service there, however, left something to be desired. Their valet service was terrible (took forever for them to get my car every time I needed it, and they charged $18 for it), and most of the employees were assholes. Oh well. There was also a fraternity and sorority reunion going on at the hotel, which caused some more annoyances, but they were for the most part well behaved and didn't make a lot of noise.

We dined at III Forks that night. My father and stepmother decided to show up and take pictures, but they didn't bother us too much besides that. The owner of the place, Gene Street, is always a riot. He's an old friend of my dad's, so he always comes by and talks to us when we eat there. He made Krista move over so he could sit and talk with us for a while, and also gave her a coin made from an ounce of pure gold. He kind of freaked her out when he got up and left in midsentence, but that's pure Gene. Adult ADD, right there.

Prom was alright. The DJ was terrible and annoying, and didn't play very good songs. Krista and I only danced once, that's how bad it was. Ah well. The rest of the night was perfect, so I guess that's a small price to pay.

It's a good thing we booked a room at the Magnolia, cause we were pretty wiped by the end of the night. We just relaxed in the room and talked and then fell asleep. God, I love that girl.

As always, drama has found its way into my life again. I am responding this time by just blocking everything that was causing drama out. I'm done with that part of my life. If people want to fuck up their own life and the lives of others, they can go right ahead. Unless it directly involves or affects me, I just don't care anymore. I'm through with stupid people, and if anyone tries to fuck with me, there will be dire consequences.
