Oh god, this is so lovely. John's love and desire to be close to his daughter shines through so clearly. That scene in the nursery really pulls at the heart-strings <3

I may be the only person in the entire fandom who both loves John Gilbert and finds him strangely sympathetic. And I think in his own twisted way he really does love Elena.
