smoked out

Buying a pack of real indian incense was one of the best things I've done all semester. Besides PNG. I light up about 3-4 sticks a day, and it keeps my room smelling sweet and the haze like a Southern California day.

Finals done, I write this last essay on my PNG trip like its nothing, coasting to a slow stop before jetting home to Riverside. I'll really enjoy biking around Southern California. I'm thinking about biking to Santa Barbara, Mexico, or Palm Springs. All 60-100 mile rides (Mexico is more like 200). I'm sure I'll only get half way or so, but might as well think big.

Memorial Glade is such a dreamy place to lie on your back in the warm December sun, wondering why anyone would ever torture themselves by living in a colder state. Berkeley will be gone soon, and with it me. Off to start a new life in the real world. Another Christmas, so far departed from the last. 365 days ago, I was in Tasmania, lounging around Hobart with Anna and preparing to raft the mighty Franklin river. This Christmas is a little less glamorous, but nonetheless it has charm.

Playful arguing with Cory, cuddling with Kevy, gymnastics with Dararith at 2 AM.

Our fireside chat was wonderful. We invited ten to fifteen people and all snuggled by the fire in cory's room and drank warm cider and ate cookies and pie and the tart that Cory made. I massaged Amy's feet, and then afterwards was enlisted by plenty of others. I will say goodbye to Amy, effectually forever, this Sunday, as she goes to Rome this Spring. We will never be in the same place and being such good friends as now. So, barring a trip this summer, its up. Katie, my first friend at Berkeley and former roommate, is also leavingh for Costa Rica.

But, with every end, comes an exciting new beginning. Next semester will mean more coaching little kids, biking to my hearts content, a little bit of school (including teaching a lecture or two of two Environmental Science classes!), and soaking up the academic and social culture Berkeley is so famous for. I plan to go to 1-2 talks a week, cause there's always some person giving a talk on something.

And, as certain things go, I bet something will happen next semester. Especially since my hygiene has improved due to living with Cory.
