I have yet to figure out why someone thought it would be a good idea to have Brand Nubian on VH1's The (White) Rapper Show?
My affinity for MC Serch notwithstanding, I hope it wasn't his idea to get two of the most militant five-percenters in rap and have them talk to a room full of white MC's. No potential hostility. None at all. Especially considering the show must have been taped right around the time Lord Jamar's The 5% Album dropped (and I do mean dropped).
While I commend Sadat X for actually trying to be helpful and useful, Jamar was just really bitter, spiteful and unprofessional.
I suppose I'm the only person who really looked at that sequence as more a negative reflection upon the Black men in the room than any of the white people. But, then again, contrary to what some people may think, I'm of the mind that white people have just as much of a right to make rap music as anyone else.
