The End Is Near
I am a sick and twisted ghoul.
There is a hurricane headed straight for us and I'm so excited.
J has the day off tomorrow. Her office, just like thousands of others in the area, are closed because of the impending storm. She is so excited and said that we should spend tomorrow going to the movies. Should be fun as long as the roof of the movie theater doesn't blow off.
It reminds me of snow days in Ohio. Everything would be cancelled, but then the bars and bowling alleys would fill with people partying through the storm.
It kind of feels like that.
The hospital I was working in today had rooms that faced the freeway. I could see it from where I was sitting. Even as the television was constantly airing storm warnings, traffic on the freeway was moving along just fine. I expected it to be like Hurricane Rita three years ago when the freeway became a parking lot.
Unlike Rita this storm is smaller so I guess people feel safer. But just like Rita it's taking direct aim at Houston.
We shall see. I'll give an update tomorrow. Meanwhile I'm off to curl up in bed with a book and watch the storm track on TV.
