Really, really good news......
I MADE IT! I WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE RN PROGRAM!!!!
The Dean of the LVN program called me today and asked if I had applied to the RN program, and if I were accepted would I give up my spot in the LVN program. I said "Yes, of coure!"
She said "Okay good, because you got in."
She said letters won't go out until next week, but she was privy to who was accepted and was trying to shuffle things around in her own program. RN school doesn't start until fall. The LVN program starts May 15. She wanted to let people know as soon as possible so they can make arrangements with jobs, child care, finances, etc. For those going on to RN school, their spots can be given to alternates and the alternates can make their arrangements too.
I won't relax completely until I get the actual letter that says I'm in. I can't think of this being a cruel joke or a mistake, but then stranger things have been known to happen.
Anyway, it's a big relief knowing what to expect for the next 5 months. I know that I can keep working full time longer than I expected, and hopefully can stockpile some money to use while I'm in school. If I save enough maybe I can stop working altogether while I'm in school.
Oh, the other good news is I've been invited to join Phi Theta Kappa and there is a reception tomorrow night. I'm pretty excited about this too. I had a chance to join once before when my kids were teeny tiny. Sadly I didn't have the 50 bucks for the membership fee at the time. I wish I had just not paid my electric bill and joined anyway, but I was so broke at the time that I was scared of having the electricity shut off. This time I have the money and I can join.
